Only on the surface. as has been pointed out, this book is designed to hook the newbies, who then later get to discover the real rules....only when it is too late!

The Apostle Paul never gave credit to human efforts for the spread of the Gosple message. He made it very clear that it was God's Holy Spirit which made it grow.

It's interesting that those in the first century (as recorded - Ethiopian eunich, the jailer and his family, etc.) who put faith in Jesus Christ ransom did not have to submit to a lengthy study program whereby they were instructed to submit to a centralized authority. It was clear and unambiguous that they were baptized into Christ; not a congregation or other earthly edifice.

Also, there was never any centralized structure directing the spread of the Gospel message where people had to report their activity to. All of this was done through the local congregations.

And, we all know what Paul said about a "new gospel".

    Thank you for this topic.

I now have the CHANGE in baptism questions as outlined by the WTBS.

Proof as to why my baptism in 1974 was very different then to why they got baptized almost 20 years later!

Thanks again....I now have documented proof!
