This burns me to no end when people do this. I feel the whole world is getting like this day by day. People can't just say yes or no or a direct answer anymore it always has to be with a question, or going in circles without ever answering the original question, or down right evading the question. I see alot of this on this site. Example I work with a very nice guy who is a "born-again christian" and one day I overheard him tell a girl that all "Jews" are going to burn in the lake of fire for all eternity. I was thrown back abit because this guy seems so nice and It was almost as if I was listening to a KKK member or a Nazi. I thought prehaps maybe I had heard him wrong and later asked him about his belief about whether Jews or going to heaven or not. This guy went in circles for about 30 minutes until finally I just told him forget I ever asked. He would not answer the question with a yes or no or even maybe but he kept going on about "Only God knows" "Christians are not the only ones that will be saved" "What do you mean do I believe Jews will make it" these were the question/answers that I got. So I just went and asked the lady that he was talking to and she told me that I had heard right the first time and this guy did tell her Jews are going to burn in hell. She said she has been told by alot of born-agains that Jews will burn. This girl is Jewish and she said that christians have two faces. A private face and a public face. The public face is all so loving and meek and sugar coated but the private face grow horns. Have anybody else experienced this?
Why do some people answer your question with another question?

Do ya think it might be either because people want to be sure that they understand waht you're actually asking, or that they think the question misconceived and needing adapting?

Little Toe you are a "perfect" example of a question dodger. You just gave me an answer with another question.

I know. I thought you might appreciate that
But at least I'm not an intolerant bigot like so many of the people you appear to be quoting

Cant you just live and let live?

A couple of reasons come to mind.
As LT already mentioned, maybe the person truly doesn't understand the question and wants to clarify. I don't see anything wrong with doing that.
Maybe the person thinks that the answer to the question is none of your business (especially if the question has to do with religion, politics or what happens in their bedroom), and is too polite to tell you to mind your own business.
That's generally when I answer questions with another question.
FWIW, when I see it happening with politicians or someone who is in the custody of law enforcement, I get the feeling that they are trying to buy time in order to think up a half decent lie.

what is your point?

one
because
it will incriminate themselves
they dont know the answer
they dont have a brain
THEY LACK SOCIAL SKILLS
you are not a lawyer to control the 'game'
most jw belong the above category,
hell it happens everywhere you talk to stupid people and
I AM SICK AND TIRED of the same thing.
avoid them like pest
of the "i recognise it when i see one" class
finally my question, why try "make a silk purse out of a pig's ear"?

Last week, on a German religious board someone got mad because another poster replied to his question with another question. A Jew came in and answered: "In Judaism you always reply to one question with another."

Okay-- Little Toe and IP_SEC appear in their pictures side by side on this thread, and I would swear they look like the same person. What's up with that? Is this an example of Booker-T's complaint about Christian's having two faces? (Or, in this case, one face but two posting voices?) --The resemblence here is so real, I'm not even sure if I'm joking or not....
