Sorry! That was yet another Whoops!

Well, yesterday I ran into the 19 year old daughter of a former JW friend.

This young woman is extremely intelligent, stayed on at school to do her A levels, which she passed with flying colours and wanted to go to Uni to train to be a physiotherapist. However, mum and dad JW would not allow it! Oh no! Armageddon is coming, don't you know. Now, six months on from leaving school, this same young woman still can't find a part time job and is stuck in pioneering to appease fanatical parents.

I ran into her and asked her how she was doing. She said she was in a hurry as she was out in service, but had still found no job. I said: 'Oh dear! The sky is still falling then?!' She gave me an odd look and said bye, and hurried off.

Well, Mummy JW rang me this morning.

What did I mean by the Sky is falling? What else had I been saying to her daughter?

I said, 'What do you think I meant?'

She was obviously getting her panty hose in a big scrunch.

'Do you no longer believe?' she demanded angrily.

'Believe what?'

'Everything you were taught?'

'About what?'

' You know.....the Truth!'

I was sniggering......God I'm getting bad!

'The Truth? Now what is that?'

Then she got mad. 'I'm warning you not to talk to L***** again.'

''L***** Is 19 and she can talk to whoever she wants. Perhaps you don't realise that.'

'Right! I'm going to have to report you to the Elders. This is not the end of this....'

I said: 'Basically R**, you can kiss my cellulite!!'

She slammed down the phone.

Funny not to be worried about Elders (window cleaners) anymore!

Zagor - After fading for nearly five years now, it might be becoming obvious that 'we are no longer Jehovah's Witnesses.'

Strange thing is, after being afraid of the Elders for nearly 38 years of my life, I really don't give a flying fart any more!

The only thing that mattered at the time, was that this young girl with huge potential for a full and successful life, was selling the Botchtower to keep her parents happy.

I think the proverbial may well have hit the fan!

Honesty

Maybe her parents will step on her so hard that she realises something is just not right and will start thinking.

Honesty - I would really like to think that is a possibility but, if you keep a person totally dependent on you, ie she will only be permitted to work part time and is expected to pioneer as well, then that person has little real option. She would not be able to afford to rent her own flat. Her associations are limited to only JWs, now that she is not at college and if she is lucky to get a part time job, it will be low paid and not necessarily with folk with much critical thinking ability.

I fear she, like so many JW kids is trapped. Hopefully, the internet will save her. I understand that her parents have recently invested in that very helpful piece of technology!

I often feel sad for the teenage boy who comes with his mum to bring my mags - he too is very bright and wants to be a marine biologist when he leaves school. It's probably not going to happen though

A JW gave me her email addy and said if I had any questions to feel free to send them to her. Of course every question I sent, she sent me a copy and paste WT answer. I sent her some pedo. information, then she got all defensive and said it was her intention to teach me about the bible not to defend the JW's. Her and her husband showed up Sunday night I wasn't home. My husband wouldn't let them in.....Today I sent her a copy about sucides among JW's. I haven't heard back from her yet.
