Sad emo - It has often been said, throughout my life, that I know how to wind a saint up! My mother would often wail 'J*****!! Why are you so BAD!!????'

Lisa - It would be interesting to know what their real reaction is to what they read that you send them. As much as I believe the shutters go down when you mention anything anti JW, I still believe that the information goes into their minds and they cannot remove it. It becomes like an itch they cannot scratch. Eventually, it starts to sprout more doubts.....but that can take years and years to see results.

I believe the scenario goes like this in many countries:

Son/daughter graduates from high school and is not sure what to do with their lives. They toss around going to college but their parents say NO. On the other hand, if they would like to pioneer, mommy and daddy would be more than happy to continue to let them live at home rent free. They will let them borrow the car for pioneering and even pay for the gas. This of course makes mommy and daddy look like the model family in the hall. They have always aspired to be like one of those families that appear on stage at the conventions that everyone in the audience drools over.

In the meantime, the young bro or sis is having a hard time landing that part time job due to most employers laughing at their "field service" and "public speaking" experience gained from the kh. Once the bro or sis decides they want to move out, they find that living on their own practically requires that you work full time just to make ends meet. This is what happens when your choices only pay at or just barely above minimum wage. They have to stop pioneering just to pay rent. Mommy and daddy lose their special status in the hall for "supporting a full time pioneer." The bro or sis are now just a regular schmuck like everyone else. Only now, they are trying to land a partner of the opposite sex that makes a little more than they do in hopes that they "can pioneer again."

Uggh. I'm making myself ill just writing about this. But you know how it goes...

Jourles - It's a nasty scenario that is played out over and over again in Watchtower land.

JW kids have no real life skills unless they have exceptional parents who are not easily influenced by trends in their congregations.

The girls are expecially put upon not to pursue an education. Pioneering/ or life wasting, is the skill the WTBTS wants its girls to have, along with good toilet cleaning skills, so that the Elders don't have to do that.

Marriage is the only escape for many JWs still trapped in Watchtower land with their parents. Often, that is a frying pan into the fire scenario.

update...Here goes: This is the reply I got back from my JW sister.

This is exactly the reason I blocked you on my My Space. If you need someone to blame for your life not turning out the way you wished, fine, but I don't need to blame anyone for anything. I am VERY happy to be one of Jehovah' faithful witnesses', and very proud to be serving him. Each person has to make his own choice in life. I have made my own, very informed choice. Me and Andrew are raising our children as witnesses, just as he and I was. When they become adults, they will make there own decision as to if they want to serve him or not. You have made your own choice. Great, I am glad you found something in your life that makes you happy. I would appreciate you not sending me any more of your apostate garbage. I would also appreciate you not contacting me or my children any more.

Thank you in advance, GXXX GXXXX

    What a bitch.
