I'd like to know what "hate mail" is too. My mom said he genuinely sounded hurt by it and he tried to excuse their behavior by saying they must be discouraged or going thru bad times and lashing onto him.

My guess is the letters complain that on his recent visit he failed to either grasp or deal with some problem(s) in the congregation that the letter writer felt was serious. There's a lot of "wait-til-the-CO-gets-here" wishful thinking that goes on in dubdom. Then he finally shows and either doesn't grant them an audience to vent, or just blows them off with a "wait-on-Jehovah" and then goes on to the next congo without resolving the "issue."
This understandably makes the sheep mad and sometimes one of them has the cojones to write a letter to the CO about it. It's easy enough to get his address - just ask the congo Secretary for it, saying you want to send him a thank you card.
It figures that in this CO's view, such sighing and groaning from the flock would be viewed as hate mail. It's just more proof that the problems in dubland are systemic.

I've got a good idea. Why not send "hate mail" to some of the elders in the local area that always gave you a hard time?? Just to give them a reminder.
