Does anyone know what the Watchtower view is on cosmetic surgery? More specifically, breast enlargement?
Thanks!

Perfectly acceptable, at least officially. Some individuals have a problem with it.
This thread title jogged my memory. I had forgotten but just now remembered, many years ago, the subject of cosmetic surgery coming up in a congregation I was in.
A sister was planning on having some work done. Word got around about it and about the costs involved and then, in typical JW fashion, everyone took sides on whether this sister should do it or not. Eventually there was a thinly veiled talk about dress and grooming that was really aimed at accepting ourselves the way we are and focus our time and money on Kingdon interests instead of personal ones. It was obvious that word from the elders was that cosmetic surgery was a no-no.
I can't remember if there was ever anything printed from the WTS about it, or if the local elders just felt the need to stick their noses in someone elses business, but after that talk, the sister was pretty much forced to adandon her attempts at cosmetic surgery.
Recalling the incident after seeing the thread title is because I was one of the few that felt that it was her business and hers alone. I thought that if the surgery would boost her self confidence or just make her feel better about herself and she could afford it, then she should do it and we should either support her or keep our mouth shut.
I don't know, but if it is a no-no, then Michael Jackson and his some of his siblings have some serious explaining to do!
I guess Michael is no longer a JW. I saw a clip on TV where he is now a Buddist, or something like that.
Heh, I know of at least two personally that have had breast augmentation done(increased size). There was a 30'ish blonde sister in the Silverthorne, CO hall back in the mid-90's that eventually moved to CA that had it done. My b-i-l's mother had it done...and she is in her late 50's!! And now I'm aware of a sister in the Little Rock, AR area(in my b-i-l's hall) that is planning to have it done(she's an A). My wife and her sister both want it done, but to go smaller.
I don't care anymore, but I remember my aunt asking about it. I don't know what they told her, but she didn't go ahead with it.

Anything above cantelope size needs to be personally inspected by the BOE, and a certificate of structural soundness issued.

Inspection and certification process to be repeated every three months, in order to make sure the congregation is in good shape.
Do they use their tools to conduct this inspection?
There were several women in a nearby congregation here who had breast enhancement... it was like a trend or something. The elders in that congregation had a 'special needs' part on the meeting about not paying undue attention to one's appearance or some such nonsense.
