I recall that the risk of death was mentioned as a consideration, with the implication that cosmetic surgery was frivolous. (This excludes cosmetic surgery after burns or accidents, etc.)

I know someone who had her boobs done, but didn't tell anyone except her close friends.
Lots of people suspected, as she was totally flat and went up to a C-cup, but she would tell them that she had been taking a course of evening primrose oil and that was why they had got bigger.
I thought Jehoover hated liars!!!

This brought back a memory. The Dubs really do hate cosmetic surgery and usually don't hesitate to harp about it in the mags. Except one time - an article on cosmetic surgery to allow Down's Syndrome kids to look a little less different. You could tell the writer really didn't like the idea, but through gritted teeth admitted that it was kind of reasonable "if you must!", so long as it didn't interfere with "more important things".
