I was an accident born to two pioneers. 3rd Generation JW. Finally wised up and was faded out by my early 30s. My parents are still firmly entrenched and ready for the Big A.

I was coming off a nasty abusive divorce and looking to find friends...met a JW in a club, slept with him, studied with his mother...met dozens of JWs and had fun stuff to do every weekend and all I had to do was "join the club" to keep this wonderful new social life.
Hotel California...you can check out but you cannot leave.

Very true, even if you're born in. No respectable way out. seek2find

Many of us really never had a chance! We were indoctrinated. MADE to go to meetings, service, studies, etc. It's all we ever knew! Now, many of us are rebels. We don't want ANYONE telling us what to do.

EXACTLY - I was born into it, thrid gen JW (thanks alot grandpa!!). There were many, many times my parents didn't go to the meetings (my did didn't go for years), but they always made me go. I had to find my own ride there and back, same for service. My dad never went door to door, my mom rarely, but every Sunday and atleast one Saturday I had to make arrangements to go out (this from the age of about 11).
