Before the introduction of the largest library on the planet...the internet...did you young JWs use the Awake magazines as a source for doing your homework and trust the contents to be accurate for reports? I remember reading letters from readers just DROOLING with thanks for giving their kids the EDGE over those poor worldly kids who had to trapse to the library to do THEIR research. :)

In High School, any chance I could get, I used Watchtower publications. That way, I could count the time for Jehovah and do homework at the same time.

I won a science award in 6th grade thanks to the Awake. My parents didn't want to buy encyclopedias and wouldn't drive us into town to the library. Without the WT publications, I would not have been able to complete some assignments.

I remember doing one paper on evolution, I chose the subject because the teacher believed evolution. I used the Awake's quotes as though I had looked them up. I did get a good grade on the paper though.

Yes I did. And I have to say, that while we might know now that some of the stuff was unreliable, it did help in encouraging me to read about things other then vampires

I remember in using an article on global warming, (better known as the greenhouse effect, then), in 11th grade for a term paper. That's about it.

I did. I remember giving a speech based on an Awake article. I froze during the speech. It was absolutely horrible.
I think my children used Awake articles occasionally for their homework.

In my world cultures class in high school we had to write a quick review of an new article each week. We were allowed to use any magazine we like. I always used the "Watching the World" in the back of the Awake mag. They were short and to the point. I always got a good grade on that assignment.
