I have always been open about the fact that I really like watching the American Idol show, but never buy any CD's by the winners. I am glad it is back on this season, and yet recently I have been watching some shows on it. There is something I never noticed, but now I can not wait to watch each show to see if it is really true. Here is what it is. Have you ever noticed how wasted Paula Abdul is on that show? Several behind the scenes people have come forward to say she is wasted in almost each episode and has a very serious issue. They showed some footage the other day of an interview she did this week, in which you can clearly see she is gone. So I am looking forward to the show, but I am also looking forward to seeing how this plays out. As it seems to be a nasty business of substance abuse.

This really has me worried about this lady.

Last year , Paula was on Dr.Phil's valentine special crying and saying how lonely she is and how she can't seem to find the right man to have a relationship with. Not sure if you watched it , but they set her up on a few blind dates and she had to pick one to go out on a real date with..Not sure how that ended.. but maybe she is just really unhappy in her personal life.Whatever it is,,hopefully she doesn't do anything really stupid to mess up her career. I always watch the show every year. I think this year had the craziest tryouts yet..I don't like when Simon gets so over the top mean,,like when he told the young guy he looked like a monkey.. Anyways, I am looking forward to the competitions this year again.

Last year Simon made a comment about a larger woman's weight and had to answer for it later too. I do feel that he often says what most people are thinking, and his rudeness is what makes people want to watch more. I think his personal attacks against people's appearances is out of line though. I don't like comments like that, they hurt.

I watched the Paula Abdul video link you provided and a few others. Did you notice it's the same purple drape background in each of the different shows' interviews? That means it was ONE drunk episode of Paula, with several feeds to several stations for several interviews at once. So it LOOKS like she's traipsing all over the place while drunk, giving one drunken interview after another, when it was just the opposite. Paula stationary, drunk that one time, and lots of interviewers [cameras] flocked around her.

It IS obvious she's hammered, though. Danny DeVito showed up on "The View" drunk, did anybody know that? He had been partying with George Clooney into the wee hours before doing this morning show and was still drunk when he arrived on the set. I wonder if that's Paula's deal.

With Danny, there was no history to pull from. Paula has shown up to many shows loaded. It is her life, but people have been saying for a long time that she is about to self distruct. Danny, in the View thing, kind of cracked me up. I have liked Danny since Taxi, and I want it clear that I do not hold drinking problems against anyone. I wish they would seek help and not the bottle though. Although, I admit, I like to drink. Just not that often, but when I do, I have a lot of fun. Perhaps Paula was just having a lot of fun. The people at American Idol said her sound was not working and she was winging the interview with that she thought they were asking.

What?? I don't believe that. Unless she's hanging out with gays all day long. With that body I bet she could turn a gay man straight! She's just being too picky.

I think she is a pretty woman too. I think she is like 45 now, she must be, as she was popular in the 1980's.

I love the American Idol tryouts. There's been some awesome characters so far. When it gets to the finalists I lose interest though.

It's interesting about Paula Abdul. I noticed in the Minnesota auditions that they had drafted Jewel in as a judge and Paula was kinda redundant. I like Paula she seems like a nice person and I hope she can get over some of her problems. In respect to finding a bloke maybe she needs to look outside of the industry and tinseltown which is probably full of self obsessed poseurs.

I think Simon Cowell says some of the personal attacks not just to get a cheap laugh but to knock some people out of the delusional state they've got themselves in. IMO some people need to be told they have no talent or they're too fat or ugly.
Maybe it's a british thing. In my experience americans are much more polite and tactful than Brits.

I think it depends on what part of the country your in. New Yorkers and people from New Jersey have no problem saying what they think of people, from my experience. Californians can be pretty bold too. My experience with people I speak to from Brit, in my business, is that they use more proper English and tend to be very exact about how they want things done.

I like Paula. She comes off as approachable.
