All contracts, of which marriage is one of, are based on
Quid Pro Quo something for something.
Everybodys working an angle. It works for some, not for others.
No one rides for free grass or ass.

This song used to make me sad, and reminded me of my sister, who was married to a bum who didn't want to work. It doesn't anymore because she's finally divorcing him. :-)
Nice song Flying High!
And I-I had a feeling I could be someone,And I-I had a feeling that I belonged
be someone, be someone
Doesn't everyone want to be someone to somebody? A basic human need . The 'tower offers a simple solution - marry "In the lord " and you know that your partner will treat you right.
I have seen too many cases where that just does not happen . A narrow pool from which to chose, always being chaperoned, no sex - What chance do they have of getting it right? Oh and of course , you have to commit adultery in order to get out of it...
.
So now he's trapped in a loveless marriage with a lazy wife that doesn't cook, clean or work.
She sounds depressed. Clinical depression can result from feeling hopelessly trapped in a loveless marriage. I have known men and women who became immobilized by depression and couldn't work or function even in the most mundane things of life;all because of feeling trapped.
Cyrus, it's just a coincidence that this comes on the heels of the For Women Only poem. To me, these two youngsters in the song are looking for happiness and get married and have kids and life gets real. He isn't ready for the responsibility and so turns to drinking, spending all his time with friends and can't find the motivation to work. She is forced to work because she knows someone has to for the sake of the kids. It can work in the opposite direction like the quote above.
I don't judge people because I have lived this song twice. Once in marrying my highschool sweetheart and the other in marrying a brother that I wasn't in love with. I'm sure we all know hundreds of couples who end up in a similar boat. Over half of all marriages end in divorce now and the bigger number of the divorces are among younger couples.
Thanks, Blues. I take it you must have downloaded the song.
I know a girl at work who is 23. She has three little babies and works as a cashier. Her immigrant husband is in jail for manufacturing and selling LARGE amounts of marijuana. His uncle was the brains *cough* behind the operation and when he was busted with over 140 lbs., he turned in all his nephews so he can get a lighter sentence. She begged this young man to stop this madness. He didn't listen. Now he will probably spend at least 2 years in jail and will be deported probably. The song makes me think of them. But it fits so many of us. Sadly.
Well flying high u do like ur chick songs dont u eh
What about the Fog Hat song I posted on my other thread? "I don't want you to work all day.I don't want you to be no slave.I just want to make love to you."
