When you see 10 year olds getting encouraged to get baptized, it can really screw with your head. I was 9.

Because with the right set of lies, people are easy to manipulate, across the board.

They target the poor and innocent. The one's that have little or no educational background. Oh, and the depressed...that's perfect prey.

My husband said they look for sheep. His definition of sheep: people that are looking for guidance in their life; someone who needs to be told what to do. I tend to agree with him. I was born into the religion and I finally had enough and left. I stayed because at some point in my life I needed guidance. Once I moved into another phase, I no longer needed that kind of help and moved on.

Some are happy to be Witnesses because they enjoy the confines of structure. Without it, they might be lawless.

Basically they prey on the public's naivity in religious matters how many people have a good grounging in the subject of religion? Not many and if they come across ones that do they will ignore them and move on to the next. That's why ex dubs and others have saved many potential victims from their clutches by making them aware in time as to who the JWs really are.

I agree. Telling people the truth about the "Truth" is very important to me. This site accomplishes that purpose better than many other things.

Sometimes they find people who are at a low point in their lives. One woman became a jw because her brother had just been killed in a car accident.Her jw co-worker told her of this hope of seeing him again in the resurrection to paradise earth. So she studied and started attending meetings.Her husband was very opposed to her becoming a dub . Even then while I was a dub, I felt sorry for her being dragged into this life which I was beginning to see was nothing but lies and twisted truths.

They prey on peoples fears as well. They paint this horrible scene of the end of the world and torture and tribulation and then say they can save you from all that. People that truly fear those things eat it up.
