Back in the day,this was a much tougher place..Lots of fighting and flame wars..LOL!!...The bunch of us who grew up here in the tougher days,verbaly fought for this place..I think that helped make the board what it is today..Now it has a softer side.People can speak out,with out getting beat up.Newbies and lurkers are more prone to chiming in..I like what the board has become..Thank-You Simon and Angharad!..Thank you Mods!..Thank you to all the posters who participate on this board!.....Lurkers..When your comfortable,join in..You won`t regret it...OUTLAW

My 2 Cents.....JWD is a place where all people who shared a common experience can come together in peace and discuss different topics relevant in the world today, as well as share with others how their individual experiences affected their lives. We all share a common bond between us that few can truly understand without being in the organization.

I know that when the poster "Minimus" came here, it was all serious business. Asking questions was a no-no, especially because I was accused of never volunteering anything about myself. Fair enough. But I was also just fading and I could not afford to out myself, especially then. What I realized was that many persons were not irritated by my posting style whereas some very much were. A few years ago, any "newbie" coming here on this turf expected to be interrogated by the powers that be. Now, things are a lot more mellow.

Minimus..You joined just when we had the worst scourge of trolls this board has ever seen.Back in the day,trolls would get as much information as they could about you.Then jerk you around with the information..For many,you had all the ear marks of a troll at the time..Now,it is a lot easyer to give opinions,some info and advise..Your one of the people that helped make that happen...OUTLAW

A lot of in fighting used to be here. A number of arrogant sounding posters frequented this place. Now, I see it as friendlier, kinder and more inclusive.

I agree 100%. I think it was very difficult for alot of us in the beginning because as Witnesses, we were never taught to respect someone else's beliefs if they differed from ours. We were taught that we were right, everyone else was wrong and it was our God-given Right and duty to make them see that they were wrong. One of the best things that I think has changed on here, is that we've learned (and will continue to learn) to tolerate and even respect others' beliefs even though they may not be the same as ours. While this may not seem like a huge deal to the average Joe, I think it's a big step forward for us given our background.

It's funny that you asked this question Min, as I was just talking to my boss about it less than an hour ago.

I've been to other forums. A few other administrators have said that this is the "measuring stick" for having a good, well rounded forum.

I made many new cyber friends here, learned a lot about the WTB&TS, and I feel comfortable posting here.

Thanks Simon and Angie for a great job! And also to the mods. My only complaint: we need more emoticons.
