<<<<anyone notice my new avatar? Wanda, Fairly OddParents.

Ok, if you know me at all you know I Love The Simpsons. We collect Simpsons memorabilia for peets sake.

Seems to me (and others, you know who you are) that these shows have just really good writing. Good little plot lines, great scripting etc.

I have to wonder though if some of the shows are geared More for the adults then for the kids at all.

For instance: On FairlyOddParents they have Fairy Idol, they have Norm (remember Norm McDonald SNL?) It really catches the attention of the adult.

Cleverly done and often well drawn, are they seeking the adult crowd or kid crowd? Or both?

Both. Even Sesame Street does it.

    Hi BS,

I suppose it's a winning formula if you appeal to all age groups. I don't think it's a new development either. I used to watch Popeye, Tom and Jerry, Bugs Bunny, Yogi etc with my parents when I was a kid, and they'd enjoy it almost as much as I did. Out of the new ones I like the Angry Beavers, Pinky and the Brain and of course SpongeBob. In fact Patrick could have been based on me.

yeah this would be very true.

Yeah I'm trying to get used to this angry beavers one, the younger daughter is getting into them and I'm not so sure.

Patrick could have been based on you? In what sense? Are you pink? Shaped like a star? Or just plain funny to be around/

My husband was stuck watching spongebob the other day and it was one that I have seen many times with the kids. He was caught enjoying it alot. It was showing kids how rumour and hysteria can turn people against one another in an instant. (The one where his snail starts biting people and they are calling it MAD SNAIL DISEASE . When all is really wrong is he had a thorn stuck in him) My husband and his friend were slightly surprised at how adult the lesson was. That is really the only way I could survive watching cartoons for as much as I have too. The Backyardigans did a skit that was like the movie 'clue'. It was funny.

I remember that episode really well. And I know exactly what you mean. There are these really good lessons for kids And adults to learn. That is the way to handle having to watch toons all the time.

My kids like the backyardigans as well. Another one that is cute, that I like, The Upside Down Show. Cute guys, funny, goofy.
