You mention that he switched congoes because he disagreed with the "Kings and Princes" in your old congo.
The WT is probably glad to see him go. That's the kind of trouble-maker that causes other people to start reasoning.
Two Thumbs Up to HAPPY DAD!
Amen and Amen.

And it's always great news to hear an elder quits! Congrats to your friends.

Seems to me........after reading this post........that the believers were making their comments to their fellow believers.
Then the pot got stirred by the unbelievers who always seem to try to get the edge on a great upbuilding post.
Does sticking your nose into something good.......trying to make it look bad make you feel good?
I agree with the person who said that if you put God down in your post JW days........then you most likely put him down when you were a JW.
Do your own thing guys, but don't put us believers down when all we are doing is trying to upbuild one another.
Find a thread with other unbelievers to espouse your non-beliefs.

HappyDad,
Sorry...but I have to throw the Bullsh*! flag. The comments from the "believers" were off topic, were made in an open forum, and were addressed respectfully. So why would you have a problem with them?

No..the pot got stirred by the "believers." If you would like to make upbuilding comments, and not preach, then send PM's to each other. Again, if you are going to preach on a public forum, be prepared for comments. Part of the experience.

That is complete crap and couldn't be farther from the truth. But if it makes you feel better for saying it, then have at it. I don't see much difference between your statements on this thread and statements made by JW's. They are based upon your prejudice and ignorance of people's lives and current situations. exjdub
Also...
It would be interesting to see your reaction if Wiccans, Athiests, Pagans, Non-Christians, etc. posted on the thread and said that they sure hoped the elder who stopped attanding meetings made sure that he explored beliefs other than Christianity, now that he is free of the JW's. I think you would be singing a different tune.
Would you have viewed those comments as "believers...making their comments to their fellow believers."? Why do the Christians on the board want exclusivity? Why are the Christians so sensitive about comments made in connection with their beliefs? If Jesus has made an impact on your life and you have joy, I am happy for you. Why can't you rejoice that others have found another way?

Happydad,
Did this thread have anything to do with being a believer before Mouthy made a reply? Where in the initial post does it make any mention of 'lets hope they stick with God'? Who hijacked the thread? Certainly not the non-believers.
That's great news, Buffalos!! Just what we all want to hear, hoping to see it happen among people we personally know too, eh?
I was thrilled to hear recently that one of my family members has seen the light in a sense; and when he hit rock bottom, it was the pastor of a Church, not the JW's he'd been so loyal to for decades, who helped him. I thought that was perfect poetic justice.
My thoughts are that if someone leaves a bad religious experience and for that reason casts off all things spiritual, that's sad and pitiable. I think anyone who makes sweeping life decisions based on negative stimuli is acting much more like a mouse in a laboratory than like a rational human.

buffaloisfree about the news you got! A ship with lots of conflicting control manuals but without captains is doomed to wreck.
The captains are jumping ship. Can the crew and passengers be far behind?
Well I can honestly say that my experience with the Witnesses had absolutely NOTHING to do with my decision to ditch God.
