Do you dream a lot?
Yes, I do. At least 3-5 different dreams a night.
Do you have pleasant dreams?
Not often. Lately a lot of flashback type dreams.
Do you have recurring dreams?
Yes, I've had a few recurring dreams since I was a kid. One is where I lose all of my teeth. Another is being chased by a large spider while I'm in a department store. But I'm naked and have to hide under the clothing racks while I'm trying to run away from the spider. Apparently I'm running for my life, but still modest. Weird.
The other one I have a lot is where I need to go pee so bad but can't find a washroom or the stall door only reaches my knees--something that keeps me from going.
Actually, most of my dreams involve some kind of unfulfilled urge and a kind of inhibiting modesty. Freud would have a field day with me!!!
Do you think God talks to you through dreams?
Don't believe in God, so no. I do believe that my subconscious works on stuff while I sleep. It's part of the function of memory.

I dream in color.
I have dreams that are so profound my husband is amazed.
I awake sickened and have to shake them off for hours.
My oldest son has the same problem and is always disturbed.
What does this mean?
Had one today just taking a nap, my husband saw me and asked if I was OK...I was not.....it took me two hours to shake it off.

Hate to say it restrangled but I think it's our brain chemistry. For better or for worse.

I do dream a lot, though most of them I don't remember in the morning.
I have noticed when I'm troubled I dream more and they are much more vivid and detailed. Usually I will dream of people I haven't thought of for years but it always has something to do with my recent troubles. I've gotten into the habit of telling myself when I'm troubled to sleep on it and remind myself to wake up early and write down the dream as much as I can remember of it because usually there is a solution to my current delima somewhere in there.
One reoccurring dream which I hate is that of drowning, either myself of one of my children or one of my grandchildren. I have no fear of water and can swim well enough but in these dreams I'm always rescuing someone and feeling helpless. Yeah I've pretty much got that one figured out......it's the Mommy thing, sigh.
As a child I had this reoccurring nightmare which scared the be-jesus outa me, it happened every time a door either the door to our bedroom or our closet was left open. I would wake up and see a circus man on stilts wearing a top hat, a midget and a clown standing in the doorway blocking it so I couldn't get out of my room and run to Mommy and Daddy. They would talk to me and taunt me....I never understood what they said but was paralyzed and scared. To this day I have to have all the doors in my room shut but lately I've noticed I will get up during the night and the stuffiness's of the room makes me leave the door into our room open and so far (knock on wood) I haven't had the nightmare. Whew....I also have hubby baffled on that one because it was a big deal when we first got married how I had to have all the doors shut to the point he made sure they were all shut before retiring.
I've often heard it said that dreams are a window into our psyche and I do believe that and pay attention to my dreams when I can remember them. There are a lot of books on dreams and how to interpret them but I haven't gotten into doing that although it sounds interesting.
Oh and for the most part I do have pleasant dreams, sweet dreams.
No, no god has ever spoken to me.
Day dreams IMHO are the best kind of dreams because you can totally control them and guide them, plus they do lead to creativity so keep your um...day dreaming job Outaservice! LOL
Tall Penguin,
I have to agree with you...brain chemistry.
I have tried to quit smoking with the patch, but after wearing at night, my dreams were so horrible I had to stop....one of the side effects.
Most of my dreams make me crazy anyway.....they have involved murder, lost in crazy schools not able to find my classes. My worst... trapped in a house with many doors, I keep opening those doors going up and down stairs just to find more doors....finally getting out and wind up in horrible alleyways.
Use to have horrible demon possesed dreams.
It must be the chemistry as you suggested.

restrangled and tall penguin: I think we must share a brain. Your dreams sound earily similar to mine. I dream a lot and remember them pretty well. I actually look forward to going to sleep and dreaming. It's like going to the movies.
I have several recurring dreams. Not exactly the same each time but the same theme or content. 1- I'm driving naked and my legs don't work or I confuse the brake for the accelerator. 2- I'm in school and forgot to study for a test, or can't find a classroom, or realize I haven't been to a class in so long I no longer know what's going on. 3- I'm in a demonized house. 4- my all time favorite- I actually hope I dream this one- Flying. I am being chased by someone or I'm in an unconfortable situation and suddenly I lift up and I'm above it all. I guess I'm invisible too because no one seems to notice. In similar dreams I sort of walk on air or glide along.
When I was little I had a recurring dream that I've never been able to remember. When I would wake up, I would know I had dreamt "the dream" and felt weird but never knew what the dream was. I did remember the feeling of the dream, though, it was a sense of impending doom. Like something catastrophic had occured that was my fault and I did not have the power to fix. I think I had this dream as early as 3 years old. When I was 9 I told my mom about it and she said it was demonic and went on a witch hunt burning and throwing away all sorts of things (starting with my dolls).
Maybe it's an NF thing...

I am glad you look forward to your dreams. They can be a lot of fun. I too have the dream of flying.
Thats my favorite. I am always little and just have to "think" a certain way and then I can fly like a bird.
Strange stuff!
Take care, and pleasant dreams!

Do you think God talks to you through dreams?
Sometimes my immediate future talks to me through dreams. Traditionally, "true dreams" are said to be very straightforward and literalistic – but not mine. My latest one:
I dreamt that my daughter-in-law (still pregnant) had had her baby the last time I went to visit her. They wouldn't let me see it, but I snuck into the bedroom while they were sleeping and got a glimpse. The baby was preemie-small but perfectly formed and quite healthy.I snuck out again and the parents wouldn't let me see her for three days.
On the third day, however, the baby – now fully sized and looking about 9 months old! – crawled out into the living room and smiled at me. She had her daddy's nose.
What does this have to do with my life? What could it all mean?
Well, lately I've been annoyed with the church I'm attending; it's difficult to start friendships there and it's not a church you can join just by signing a membership book. Yet the preaching and music are the most upbuilding I've ever heard.
The settings are wildly different but the situations are similar: something I want is being withheld by people who have given me no reason to mistrust them. I can sneak into the inner sanctum without being noticed, but it won't help much. But the solution is neither to submit nor to force the issue: instead, let the baby – or the spirit – come out and meet me halfway, when we're both ready.

I go through periods where I can't remember any of my dreams. When I do dream, the subject is usually something I couldn't figure out during the day and I guess my mind ruminates on it when I sleep...
