Ever since I knew the dubs in the late 1970's they would say "it will be some time soon" and I am surprised that most if not all of them still say that, long after the generation concept changed dramatically. It must be wishful thinking, they are in denial. The FDS knows this inclination and exploits it to the full.

Does the organization still strongly encourage JWs going to "where the need is greater" like in the 60's & 70's?

Many sold homes and went "where the need is greater" and pioneer etc & returned broke, ill, discouraged,, only to be criticized by the ones in the congregation who never put their belief into such actions to that extent.

I compare the "organization" to a dragon that you must scratch its back constantly,,if you slow down or tire,,it turns on you!

What percentage of JW's think that the end is less than 10 years away? I'd say 75%

I agree with you on that one for the majority that figure allows them to have one foot in this system on one foot in the new order. It's a comfortable place for most. They love this world and system, but they want to be prepared for the fantasy life.

One 62 year old zealous elder, who's been in the org. 50years just told me he doesn't think he is going to see the end in his lifetime.

I think down deep those that have been around for decades and have seen many others dying off are just putting in their time because of their lifetime investment. Most of them have way too many family members in the borg and would not think of dropping out, so they continue the lie even though they know much of of it is a lot of crap.

Just read today's study article about joy and next week about the resurrection and 24 elders and you will see what i mean.

I know that the dubs say that the end is close, but what does that mean exactly in THEIR mind.

What percentage of JW's think that the end is less than 5 years away? I'd say 5%

What percentage of JW's think that the end is less than 10 years away? I'd say 5%

What percentage of JW's think that the end is between 10 and 20 years from now? I'd say 0%

What percentage of JW's think that the end is more than 20 years away?I'd say 90%

Most think it is coming tomorrow (newbies), or never (old timers).

Many that were elders when I was a child are mad they are sick and about to die.

    Proplog quote:

"5-15 think they will be separated from their parents any day because of some vague persecution."

This hits a chord. I was in constant underlying terror as a child. I used to pray to Jehovah that (H)e wouldn't make Armegeddon come while I was waiting for the schoolbus or at school.

Of course, it didn't help matters any that my Mom thought I was demonized because I had night terrors.

    *sigh*

I think the poll is interesting, but I really do wish I could know what the Dubs think. They have changed the wording and the policy and the expectation so many times, and yet here are fanatics freaking out about how CLOSE it is!!! I wonder what the real expectation is, indeed.

    Baba.
