Growing into Womanhood--I think that was the name of the chapter where it instructed us on the need to bathe. I think if you've reached your teen years and don't know that by now, you've got big problems.

I loved studying about masturbation with my wack job mother. Such a pleasant topic to discuss in the living room in front of my dad and siblings. I also loved the part where they said holding hands will rev you up so much you will have sex and be worthless for eternity, and it's the girl's fault. Another favorite--good wives obey their husbands even when they're wrong, and know how to sew their own clothes.

Queen Victoria + Jim Jones = Youth book.

I used to get "spanked" after every week's study of that book for mocking it and saying point blank I wouldn't follow any of that crap. "Spanking" never stopped me from doing or saying anything.

I would l-o-v-e to get a copy of it now. I would cut out each chapter and attach a critical review, then send it to my mother along with anectdotes of why it is so !#$%^ up.

Oh lord I remember when I was having some serious problems in the orginization right before I left my mother suggested that I meet with an elder for a study. The elder suggested that we study the Young People Ask book, to which I said that at age NINETEEN I might be a little beyond the relentless masturbation and double life portion of my life.

my mom recently sent me a lot of my old books as "they were just too painful to have around". wtf? anyway, there was a copy of the old youth book -- i got quite a chuckle out of it, as did my girlfriend... Mrs BW who neverwuzadub nearly peed herself laughing over the YPA book, I can only imagine how she would have handled the old one

Heh, yes I remember the YPA book. In fact it was the last book that I studied with my pops (we'd studied countless books before that, the Live Forever book, the Is the Bible the Word of God book, the Education book, the Creation book, in fact I can't remember them all). I knew that eventually we would reach the masturbation chapter so at a certain point I managed to delay the study each week so that it never happened, (this arrangement was possibly mutual) and we never got onto that chapter. (This is relevant since (at that time) I was wanking like there was no to-morrow.)

I tried to find the quote on spicy food, but this is all I found:

Before retiring, try to see that what you read or talk about has a calming effect rather than the opposite. So, too, with any eating that you do at this time. Some have even found that if they limit the amount of food and drink they consume before retiring they sleep more soundly and are not so inclined to be aroused sexually.

When I was 12-13, the youth book was the closest thing to porn that I had. So sad. I know its been said before, but the governing homos were really into the details, like JC elders drooling over juicy bits.

This book completely passed me by - unless I just wasn't paying attention, which is more likely. Locally I'm aware of Dubs donating this book to (Worldly) school libraries...lol

I had a pretty cool sister study with me- so we kind of laughed through the silly stuff.

And when we came to the masturbation part she was, like, "Uh, this doesn't really apply, does it?" And I was, like, "Nope."

    And we skipped that part...

    :P
