It really was quite bizarre. First off, the elder was there to work, when did he get time to watch home videos (assuming we don't believe his story about Jehovah leading him)? I saw the tape and it was basically a five second clip amongst hours of boring beach scenes and weird insect shots, chances are he would have to be watching it for some time. My friend was as good a dub as could be (he has since left), and was terrified of the Elders so he took everything they handed them without protest. As I distance myself from this cult remembering Gestapo-like mentality that the elders had (in our congregation anyway) really makes me wonder why I ever allowed myself to attribute authority to them. These guys would actually follow people, and not always surreptitiously! Another friend of mine who was a few years older than I and going through some difficult personal issues (he wasn't in good standing at the time, just stepped down from being an MS) asked me during a meeting if I could leave for a few minutes and talk. I obviously agreed and we left during the meeting and drove to MacDonald's for a bite from the pick up window. Low and behold two Elders followed us, pulled up beside us, rolled down the window and demanded I get in the car with them. I suppose because I was only 17 they felt it was their duty to protect me from my friend's evil influence and return me to the meeting. I refused to oblige and they took off in a huff. That was the first time I ever stood up to the elders and I was TERRIFIED. Needless to say when I returned to the hall I was raked over the coals in the B school.

I heard of a JW woman who refused host the Bookstudy at the couple's home because she got tired of the "friends" going through her bathroom cabinets. Privacy is apparently not sacred when it comes to finking in the name of Jehovah.

so what about all the times that they do not find anything and it is there (like in my house )? it means holy spirit is not at work?

it is similar situation to the box on page 21 of the revelation book, when jw did not get caught having "spiritual food" under ban it is angelic direction. so when this didn't happen and they were caught? ah then it was Satan test.... JW like to have it both ways, all the time.
