Yes, education and true knowledge are a real threat to the Watchtower Organization and the internet will play it's part in it's expose'. This is my personal belief

The watertower wants first and exclusive dibs on the flocks energy. Madison Ave is trumping them.

For a group of people that think the Bible knew everything, and mentioned everything, it sure did not see the Internet coming. I guess Al Gore's invention of the Internet was not considered a sign of the end.

And along came the talks on materialism, needing a "color" TV and later needing a VCR.

The warnings™ about the dangers™ of the internet started coming fast and furious in the late 90's. It worked pretty well with me, I bought into their Apostate™ paranoia up until 2001 or so.

Like with any religion, the levels of adherence among the JW flock varies greatly. We all knew JW's who watched very little TV, read very little outside of WT publications, never missed a meeting, hand always raised during the WT study, the truest-believers. These are the darlings of the Society, and they desperately wish that every JW had this level of orthodoxy because few religions have such a shaky hold on their more moderate members as the Tower does, and so things like TV and Internet really do present a serious threat to the stability of their membership. So they constantly guilt and prod, but it's of no use because people's level of religiousness is probably their DNA as much as anything.
