It helps me keep things in perspective. I read what the experiences of others who have had the same difficulties. It reminds me that the harsh treatment I've had from many of my relatives is because of their indoctrination by the organization and has nothing to do with me personally.

It serves a twofold purpose for me. First, by posting threads it gives me the ability to vent about things that most of my friends and associates would not understand. Second, by reading others stories and thoughts it helps me organize mine understand life better.

Now THAT is so important to remember. For most of us it really doesn't have something to do with us personally. It's just another rule they have to follow
I love the variety.
It is absolutely wonderful to see what brilliant minds were buried under the submission rules.
Our comics can turn a WT rule into the funniest of routines and hit the nail on the head - exactly on. if you doubt that go read some of Farkel's posts in the Best of
There are always so many to offer a shoulder and not tell people they shouldn't feel that way or think that way or gawd forbid "Wait on Jehovah"
I love how most people follow the few rules here which mainly amount to respecting youreslf and others

What I like is the friendship that most people have for one another here.
Some on the other hand, will try to make you look stupid by showing to everyone that you made a spelling mistake....

"HOPE"
It gives me hope. Reading everyone's comments, of all kinds, posting their experience and giving exposure to the WT organization, getting to voice opinion. It's therapeutic, a breath of fresh air. I believe it has a part to affecting the WT.
I just read an article (http://www.readingeagle.com/re/john_smith/1624846.asp) quoting Justice Robert Jackson in 1943: "Those who begin coercive elimination of dissent soon find themselves exterminating dissenters. Compulsory unification of opinion achieves only the unanimity of the graveyard."

For most of us, communicating, or lurking, as I do, on this forum is a bowl of fresh air, and I find it so sad that JWs can't find in their r own congregations the necessary confident relationship that would allow each one to express him(her)self free of other's judgement and disapproval, not having to be told that "you weaken the brothers' faith" whilst all that you seek is just the mutual enrichment that comes out of exchanging viewpoints. To me the lack of real theological or plain human exchange within the WTS is a glaring sign that it is almost a corpse. But again, as my grand dad could have asked during WW1, have you found a better hole, or could it be that All organized religions are repressive, as I'm pretty sure quite a few overhere have gathered from their JW experience ?
