I was very pleased for Jennifer.

It was interesting to discover this wasn't her first acting role and that she had done stage work.

I thought her acceptance speech was wonderful considering how nervous and excited she must have been

    Yes LL,

Jennifer's speech was very moving, as well as that of Forrest Whitaker. Ennio Morricone's feeling and gratitude came glowing through his Italian. A wonderful evening spent!

I had a really emotional moment when Ennio Morricone won an Oscar last night. He looks exactly like Larry Olivier in his Marathon Man role. The audience jumped to its collective feet and celebrated the award as Morricone ambled to the platform beside Clint Eastwood to accept the statuette. Then, from the sublime to the somewhat ridiculous. Morricone gave his acceptance speech in Italian. Eastwood jumped in and translated. Undaunted, Ennio followed his lengthy preamble with yet more multisyllabic improvisation. Eastwood followed the verbal appogiatura with more explanation. Morricone again took up where he had left off in what was becoming (for me, at least) an unwatchable moment of comic embarassment as the epic speech went in to overtime! I had to leave the room until the music came up and a grinning Eastwood and a humble, grateful Ennio Morricone absented the stage to relieved applause of the Oscar night audience. I nominate this acceptance speech as the longest ever given without interruption. You have to say this: the Oscar orchestra didn't interrupt the much respected maestro and the audience was game! What a win. What a speech. What a deserved award!! Terry

I haven't seen The Queen, but I did see The Departed several times- it was very well done and the actors all did fantastic, I especially loved Mark Wahlbergs role- he was intense. I got the Dvd as soon as it came out.

    "Little Miss Sunshine"

The little girl was so cute in that movie. Not sure who she was up against because I didn't watch the award show but she did a great job.

    What a long show!

I thought all the awards were well deserved although I was alittle disappointed that Eddie Murphy didn't win.

I was very happy for Forest Whittaker, if you haven't seen the movie rent it on DVD. Its pretty intense.

He played his role as the Ugandan dictator Idi Amin quite well and in fact deserved the Oscar he got. It is also interesting to note that two black persons (Whitaker and Hudson) got Oscars this year.

    Dear Friends,

Quite a lot of heartfelt gratitude displayed toward Mr. Gore and his dedication to "green" issues. I was wondering if it was the message itself from Melissa E's song [forgot title - something about waking up - from "An Inconvenient Truth"] that snagged the OSCAR. Certainly the other musical entries - 3 from "Dream Girls" - were serious contenders for the prize.
Thanx for your comments. Glad your "celluloid dreams" came true. Well, some of yours!

IMO, this Acadamy Awards, was about PC, and giving people their overdue accolades.

An Inconvienent Lie Truth won for the same reason The Dixie Chicks won their Grammy Award. Political correctness, and sticking it to the conservatives.

All the talk about this being a "green" ceremony, will be forgotten next year when the stretch limos return. Again IMO.

Martin Scorcese deserved a win, too bad it was for the wrong movie. Don't get me wrong, The Departed was a great movie, but it is so much a part of the "Mafia" genre that he is so adept in, that I would have had a hard time voting for it if I had the vote. I thought that The Aviator was the movie he should have won the Oscar for.

Alan Arkin got his based on the mountain of work he has produced.

Forrest Whittaker's win impressed me. I will make a point of going to see The Last King of Scotland.

I didn't really have an opinion about the rest of the winners.
