With the dubs saying that Matt. 24:14 has been fulfilled or as one Elder put it, "since 1985" he believes, and Matthews fulfillment was spoken of at their last assembly. Then of all things they brought out about the generation of 1914 is so old now that this system can't last but a few more days, weeks, months, or years and then it will all be over with. Talk about being out of tune with the current (1995) info on the generation, but what would you expect from a bunch of gardners, window washers etc.?

Dates with the witnesses has bothered me for a long time, but I don't doubt that the end is close, but not based on Witness philosophy, rather on the Bible itself,
There are many non witnesses who see the same thing. It is a Bibilcal sense of the end, not the witness veiw.

It's always been around the corner. An old lady in my book study made a comment about how 'the end must be close because of the 1914 generation' a few months back. Guess she wasn't aware of the change.

1985, why not say since 1975 since that was such a significant year for the jws. And you know if you point out that over 20 years have passed since the fulfillment of the scripture the dude is counting on, he will just respond by saying "a year to man is like a day to god" or something like that. They always have some kind of spin to their story don't they!

Greetings BAF,
I had an "elder" tell me one time that Babillion the Great had already fallen. This was back in the mid 80's. He said that because of the exposure of false religion (Babillion the Great) vis-a-vis the "worldwide preaching work" that dubs were engaged in, has caused their downfall. Have you heard of any bigtime religions going out of business? Those screwballs!
