I remember that as being pretty close to what they taught. But with all the "new light" flashes since then...who the hell really knows anymore.
Do JW's still believe this?

Honesty
Supposedly, those who heard of "the truth" and rejected it were dead forever
The False Prophets who call themselves Jehovah's Witness can judge all they want to but that doesn't change the Promises of the Bible.
John 3:16 “For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.
1 John 5:12-13 The one who has the Son has life. The one who doesn’t have the Son of God does not have life. I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
Since escaping from the JW cult and finding the real Jesus I have fully experienced another promise from Him:
John10:10 I have come that they may have life and have it in abundance.

Once again, the witnesses have found another way to contridict something. I heard the same thing and it was taught to me in my family bible studies as a child. What gets me is that I was taught that when a person dies, their slate has been wipped clean. Didn't Jesus say that the wages of sin is death. Or something like that. When a person dies, aren't his/her sins forgiven? I mean, isn't that what Jesus came here in the first place?
I never understood that entire concept, but obviously... it is just another mind game by the Watchtower organization to guilt everyone into attending their meetings and events.

Abandoned
Anyway, that is what made my parents quit doing the field service. They decided that since they never converted anyone, all their field service work was just going towards making people hear of "the truth" and guarantee that they could not be resurrected.
I like your parents.
Another poster here showed a chart that shows that each day that armageddon is delayed, many, many more people are in line to be destroyed. So instead of showcasing god's love, armageddon's delay is actually an example of his callousness.

Good point abandoned. I once asked an elder about that (more having to be destroyed with each passing day). He didn't have an answer. Come to think of it he didn't answer any of my questions. But he did tell me that I have an attitude problem. That I already knew.

i was raised in the 80s and 90s. i was told that ALL dead will be resurrected since all sins are forgiven in death. so even apostates and hitler (but some witnesses i know arent sure about that last one ;) he may sinned against the holy spirit).
ive heard about that "everyone who reject it would not be ressurrected" also, but i always thoughts it apostates thinking ;D i never knew it was common thinking sometime O_o

Supposedly, those who heard of "the truth" and rejected it were dead forever, but those who had
never had a chance to hear it would be resurrected for a second chance to submit to Jehovah/The Watchtower SocietyThis what I was told and believed as a JW. Also that all non-JW's living at the time of Armageddon would be destroyed.
In view of the above I remember being on the ministry with an Elder.
The man we had called on brought this point up.
"So because you called on me and others and we reject your beliefs, if we die before Armageddon, we won't be resurrectted.
"Thats right." says Elder
"If you had never called on me or others and we die before Armageddon, we will be resurrected."
"Thats right" says Elder
"In that case isn't it better that you DON'T call on people. Because then we will all be resurrected."
"Err, well, emm" says Elder
First time seen him lost for words.

Only those who sin against the spirit will not have a second chance, and only Jehovahs knows who they are, pretty mystic huh.

There was an obscure reference to those who rebelled against Moses' leadership quite possibly being resurrected. It was in a WT study article about the resurrection about two years ago. Even though the earth swallowed them alive, as a direct scourge from God, the explanation was that since they are described as going down to sheol they await resurrection along with the vast majority of the dead. Perhaps Blondie could refresh our memories. Also interesting was the question from the readers(in the same issue) that indicated that Solomon would be resurrected despite the fact that he became an idolatrous apostate due to the influence of his harem. I guess the apostates are good to go as long as they die before Armageddon.

I was at my first cold stranger's door in 1951 at 7 years old. We were separating the sheep from the goats by our religious literature sales. If a person was receptive to us (and purchased literature) they were "sheeplike" and they "might" have a chance to make it through Armageddon.
If they said "No" to our sales presentation, they would be murdered by God. That put too much pressure on me to perform at the doors. Every time a door slammed, I took it personally and it all took it's toll on me.
Now there's no separating going on since 1995. I'm not sure why Witnesses go to doors now.
