I hear that it all started after they bought computers and started GOOGLING "Jehovah's Witnesses" and "Watchtower Society."

It's simple, not one or hardly any of the so called JW anointed seem to have received approval and there are always replacements that also fail and it goes on like this since 1935. Apparently making the grade for heaven is too tough for most. Of course the number 144 000 is not literal just as everything else in the verses containing it are not literal. 144 000 who are male, virginal, Jews! If the last three are symbolic so must be their number.

Shame on you. You must not examine Revelation from such a fleshly(~~logical~~) perspective. It's much better to accept a spiritual(~~WTBS-approved~~) explanation. Perhaps the Rbi8(reference NWT) has a footnote for Rev.1:1 specifying that the message was presented in signs and symbols excepting the number 144,000. Sorry, the current version has no such footnote but that's ok. They can always revise that in a new and improved version of their reference Bible.

The borg has always had trouble with numbers, and if the were sealed before 1935 then that number would have to drop appreciably every year, and those "unfaithful" were anointed before 1918, so they all should be dead and replaced cause thats when the "remnent"..remaining faithful came out of Babaloyn the great and the "unfaithful" stayed behind.....BS, if Jehovah choose them then why the split? and who left who?

I have asked and never received an answer (one of many on my list) this question:

If the number 144,000 is literal, and it refers to the JW "annointed class" then which ones are the 12,000 from each of the different tribes. You know, that list is long and detailed so if Jehovah thought it best to include those details then I want to know which ones belong to the tribe of Naphtali, etc. and how do they know which tribe they are representing. Do they have tribal meetings and vote on new light?

If the number is literal, then I have no problem accepting that the rest of it is literal too, maybe a large group of Jewish men who will at some point become preachers on behalf of the Lamb in the the endtimes. Rutherford certainly was all excited at one point (back in the 20's) about the restoration of Israel to their promised land. He even went on tour in Israel preaching to the Jews. How disappointed his converts must have been when a few years later he changed his mind (or Jehovah told him he had got it wrong, and the Jews were actually obliterated from God's plan. Seems like Jehovah should have conveyed something that significant to Rutherford BEFORE he went and published books/preached in Jerusalem about the Jews still being the promised people).

This is a classic case of the flip flop:

Russel taught the Jews were never to be restored.

Rutherford taught the Jews were to be restored.

nvrgnbk, it has to be that way the WTS reigns supreme and can change from literal to symbolic as and when it suits it's doctrines even in mid verse. Those pesky dubs if they read Rutherford's complete interpretation of Revelation will laugh. Who would trust him a lawyer and not a theologian with formulating doctrine?

The following is a plausible explanation. Disclaimer: I do not believe the number of anointed is 144 000.

The replacement of an "unfaithful, formerly anointed" individual need not be immediate, but rather, is said to take place after the death of the individual. Thus, the number of recognized anointed members of the "Remnant" will fall both because of deaths of faithful Anointed AND the defection of unfaithful Anointed from the Watch Tower Society. Accordingly, it could be (but need not appear as) a one-for-one replacement because the cumulative defection of not-yet-replaced Evil Slaves would take place over several years, and could be followed by a total replacement in a SINGLE year. If the number of recognized replacements exceeds the number of those who have died faithful since the previous Memorial, the total number of "anointed" will appear to increase. (Of course, such an explanation is necessary only if the number 144 000 be literal.)

I was told by an active jw, that they have to get rid of the whacko's who partake, thats why the numbers go up and down.........lol
