Hi guys,
well we just sat outside, taking a few shots of this brilliant event. We watched as the shadow slowly covered the moon - and then, the end result - a rose colored moon. Absolutely brilliant - our shots were amature since we dont really have a mega powerful lens / zoom but I will post some pics in the morning. Unfortunately we were not so brave as to sit outside in the cold to see it go back to normal again!
I agree with another poster, imagine how our ancestors felt, what went through their minds, how they would have reacted to it - I tried to put myself in their situation - added to the feel of it.
Anybody else enjoy it?

Me Me Me!!!!!
I think the best bit was just as it went into total eclipse - it looked as if there were bursts of red light coming from the edges and the whole face was shimmering/rippling between red and white.
Maybe I'd just been staring up at it for too long but the effect was that it looked as though it was totally alive.
I'm gonna have such a stiff neck in the morning - but it was worth it lol!
Yes, fantastic!
...and now im off to bed! zzzzzzzzz
Thank you needproof,
I came across your thread on opening JWD two hours ago, woke my daughter up and we enjoyed it with binoculars and her brand-new small telescope until it became too cloudy here. Wonderful.
It is still going on right now I was just observing it, the total eclipse will begin to wane soon in about four minutes giving a total eclipse time of 74 minutes. Some can last longer, up to 107 minutes.
The first little slice of white light has appeared on the edge of the moon disc and is beginning to replace the orange red colour of the eclipsed moon. The sun is once more beginning to illuminate the moon with its pure white light.
The full moon eclipse is in Virgo, too! (Runs to the window to gaze)
Couldn't see it here.
Have to wait for August 28.
