ROFLMAO! i think JH has too much time on his hands

Well isnt this dandy..................
If the battery isn't an issue and the laptop still won't turn on one with the power good status light lit, it could be a switch failure, but it's more likely a power regulation or mainboard failure. Troubleshooting power regulation or the motherboard requires test equipment or spare board to swap out
yeah, let me pull that spare motherboard out of my hinder and try it!

Don't forget to set up your video camera first. This will be a must-see!
I've had a few D600 models need motherboard replacements lately. They're also aound 3 years old. I think they're designed to die when the 3 year warranty ends.

Maybe thats why this guy is selling them by the truckload on ebay!!!!!!!!!!!! Never again, I tell ya!
Yes, at work. I'm on a docking station now.
My Dell laptop did that and it was the motherboard.
Does your boyfriend have a voltmeter? It could be that your AC/DC adapter (plug in cord) is faulty. If it is faulty, your battery isn't being charged. If your battery is not being charged, the laptop is barely able to draw enough current to turn on for a sec and then shutoff. Try looking up an electronics shop in town(hell, even an autozone!) to see if they can verify that your charge adapter is working if you do not have access to a voltmeter. it's really easy to check.
THanks everyone,
Jourles, its not the Ac Adapter, How do I know? I was told more than likely it was so I had dell overnight a new one! what a waste of money lol. Thats why I wanted to look into it more before I purchase a new battery. Since it works without a battery, thats not it. Other things I have read, Faulty switch, hard drive, motherboard.......this stinks!
