Both verses also mention to abstain from what is strangled.

When I go to the supermarket, I just choose a "round" cut of beef with the least visible blood, and wash it just before I put it in the roasting pan in the oven and cook it. Verse 29 gives God's blessings. It works for me.

Although not a JW apologist like some here - and I do believe that dubs have misinterpreted most every other scripture Fred, so why not your pet one here? Still, well bled meat is the norm for me. I do believe the apostles were talking about animal blood not man's, so a blood transfusion is a different matter.

As far as wild game is concerned, a good point is made. Once disemboweled, there is no point to go further [though hanging for a few hours will drain a little blood out].

Strangle can be argued. Does it's reference in the bible mean the squeezing of the windpipe to kill or does it refer to a force or action that restricts freedom? It may be an assumption to killing because the word's "abstain from blood", follow.

I don't believe that the Christian writers of the scriptures felt that all covenants in the Hebrew Scriptures had been nullified. The covenant made with Noah and his descendants about "blood" (Genesis 9:4) was understood to be still binding upon Christians. (Acts 15:19,20) And the Abrahamic Covenant about the blessing of all mankind was being fulfilled through Christ. The covenant that was becoming obsolete with the advent of the Messiah was the Old Mosaic Covenant.

It's an interesting question apparently because QBert has not responded. Still the question of, properly, unbled meat has not been answered, biblicly!

As to the specific passage of 1 Samuel 14, it must be noted that the Hebrew text does not say "eat with the blood" but "eat over (or, near) the blood" (also Leviticus 19:26), which probably does not point to the mere fact of eating unbled meat but alludes to an ancient ritual, likely connected to communicating with the underworld, which had come to be rejected by the Bible writers along with many features of ancient Israelite religion... The fact that the "solution" consists in separating the place of killing from the place of eating (v. 33f) confirms such a view...

Once I was offered a deer and did not take it because his throat wasnt cut .

Most hunters around here try for a heart or lung shot. If you get a shot like that the animal is bled out better than if you would have cut it's throat while still alive.

The Scriptures still cannot be annulled.

According to your definition of "annulling the scriptures", Paul did just that in 1 Cor 8, by "annulling" what was mentioned in, yes, Acts 15:20, 29: "You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols"

What's more, Paul in 1 Cor 10 also gave the go-ahead to eat meat sold in the GENTILE marketplace, despite the likelihood that such meat was not properly bled. He went on to say that WHATEVER a dinner host who is an unbeliever sets before you, go ahead and eat it!

Having had been in the meat trade for 25 years. There is always blood within the meat. You can stick your "round cut" of beef on a dish and it will still seep blood a week later.

In the trade it was usually considered that "bled meat" was from an animal, usually stunned then had its throat cut until the the blood stopped flowing.

I have watched Orthodox Jews in slaughter houses , cut the throat of an animal and let it bleed to death, as they said prayers over it. This was sufficient for them. But they then take it a step further and remove the major blood vessels from various parts of the body.

Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ. Col 2:16,17

As 2 Tim 3:16 states: All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial. All is a pretty inclusive word.

We mustn't forget the fine circular reasoning here! The bible is inspired because the bible says so! I remember many JWs who ate their steak rare, the meat sitting on the plate in a pool of blood. I was so happy when they rolled their eyes and patiently explained to me that it was not blood, but JUICE!!! Silly me! W
