Ghosts and using God's name

Okay Im just gonna ask my question because I'm curious. I'm still not even sure if there are actual Witnesses here or just people aruging with them (some people have too much free time)

See lately I've been watching this show "A Haunting" and a lot of the episodes are the same.
    Family encounteres ghosts
Ghosts might annoy family but are usually not harming them
Family (generally catholic) gets a priest to bless the house
Ghosts get upset and start to harm family
    Family tries an exorcism
Family ends up having to move because ghost retaliates

    So here's my question
I used to study with some witnesses who mentioned once that using God's name in a haunting situation can be powerful enough to get rid of the ghost/demon/whatever. Is this actually true? I mean, I guess what Im wondering is if there's any way to get rid of them for good because all the blessings and what not seem to do is anger ghosts. What SHOULD you do in a haunting situation? I know you guys aren't exorcists but Im just curious. So lemme know and no flames or anything like that pleaes.

In terms of my extensive personal experience with the supernatural, let me just say that I have none.

But one can't help but wonder WHY the articulation of God's name should freak the sh!t out of ghouls/spirits/malevolent souls.

Does the sound frequency generated by the verbalization of the word "J-E-H-O-V-A-H" have some "magical" property? If so, what if I was a non-English speaking amatuer exorcist? Would my version of the name (Ieova, Ehoba, Yahweh, Yehehua, Jeova etc.) have an effect on the ghost bully? Has God imbued every known version of His name with Ghostbusting properties? Oh and is it "Jehovah" or "Jesus" that is the appropriate "banishing spell"? Does it matter? Are these spirits educated enough to recognize the Trinity?

Does mention of the Almighty scare our otherwordly monsters or does it piss them off? If the name of the Most Holy scares them, does mention of the Most Unholy scare good angels? Why not?

If the use of God's name actually alerts the Big Guy to action, why does it not work for JWs who perished in (insert recent disaster here)? Is Salvation dished out arbitrarily?

Grab your camera, drop your boxers, and see who gets to say BOO first.

Most of the people on this site were JW and are now either DF or Da or inactive. Some still attend meetings.

This is an area I myself have questioned, and researched. During my research, I have also read stories of people who used the name 'Jesus' and even 'Allah' to ward off demons. I have even read stories of people using the cross to ward them off. Having no experience in a situation like this myself, I do not know how valid these stories are, but I do know they are as valid as the stories the Society relates where people use 'Jehovah' to ward off demons. If these indeed are true, it leads me to the conclusion that it's not the word or item you use, but the strength you assign to it personally, that it is thus, psychological.

Yes, a tried and true method of getting rid of ghosts is to say the name, "[insert name of deity/entity being promoted]". Sheesh.

I have known JWs that claimed to have said the word Jehovah and demon experiences stopped. Does this prove anything? No. I have read experiences of Christians that use the word Jesus, and demon experiences also stop.

Whose name does the Bible say:

(Mark 9:38-39) 38 John said to him: "Teacher, we saw a certain man expelling demons by the use of your name and we tried to prevent him, because he was not accompanying us." 39 But Jesus said: "Do not try to prevent him, for there is no one that will do a powerful work on the basis of my name that will quickly be able to revile me;. . .

    Here is another scripture:

(Luke 10:17) . . .Then the seventy returned with joy, saying: "Lord, even the demons are made subject to us by the use of your name."

The word Jehovah is one of three sacred names of God used in Enochian Magick. If the name also serves to scare away demons, ghosts, fallen angels, or whatever one fancies calling purported supernatural troublemakers, this would present an interesting contradiction.

    Proverbs 18:10
    The name of the LORD is a strong tower;
the righteous run to it and are safe.

The name is used figuratively. Compare with 2 Samuel 22:3,51; Psalms 18:2; 61:3; 144:2 and you'll see it's not advice to invoke "Jehovah" as ammunition against "wicked spirit forces." It's about how Jehovah protects the righteous, those who keep his commandments, and is figuratively, a place of refuge.

At the time this was written shepherds used towers to watch over their flocks, and would herd the flocks into the towers for protection. Also at that time, the name of YHWH was not uttered out of respect for the divine name. The average Hebrew was probably not using it as a talisman to repel demons. Just my opinion.

The Witnesses have an unhealthy obsession with wicked spirits (as well as the name Jehovah). They use this as a mechanism to keep you studying with them... if you stop, you will have demon attacks, so say this magical name and they will flee. Anything that keeps you from getting baptized is the demons fault, and anything bad that happens after you're baptized is the demons fault, too. It's control through fear, and a copout to avoid taking any personal responsibility for their lives. It's very sad and very effective.

What's interesting is that the Hebrew scriptures don't really mention demons or demon attacks, though Jehovah cruelly allowed Satan to mess with Job. The demons were busiest possessing people when Jesus was on the scene. Later, his apostles were able to drive out demons with the aid of the Holy Spirit sent to them by Jesus. Jehovah did not figure in.

BTW, Jesus didn't call on Jehovah, he used Abba, Father.

If the Witnesses continue to haunt you, ask to be put on their Do Not Call list, or put up a No Trespassing sign. If you seriously have a problem with angry ghosts, ask the elders at your local Kingdom Hall for help. One of the first things they'll tell you is to stop watching TV shows about ghosts!

Yes, invoking one imaginary being can drive away other imaginary beings, but only for people with a suitably active imagination. In the real world, there's no such things as ghosts, demons, gods, fairies, elves, leprechauns, or genies.
