Alot of JW's have a difficult time accepting that many of their family and friends will be destroyed at Armageddon, so in order to comfort themselves they proceed to say things like "only Jehovah knows the heart" "only Jehovah can judge" and so forth. They have no problem telling the world that everyone will be destroyed, but it hits home for them personally when they consider their own families.
