You're a sight for sore eyes Bro A! Glad you're enjoying that special treat. Fill us in on some of the characteristics of that beauty, if you get a chance.
Nvr, I was going to PM you about this, then I saw the thread is still hot.
Has anyone mentioned BALTIKA #9. It's a russian beer that unfortunately has been only sporadically available at my local beer distrib. I used to buy it by the case. 8% alcohol, smooth. Good all-around beer.
Also, last time I stopped in, my distrib had just gotten in beers from the Left Hand Brewing Co., Colorado. They have a porter, a "milk" stout, a brown ale and something they call sawtooth ale. Not bad.

Hello skeptic1914. You'd better believe this thread's hot! LOL!
You guys are really illuminating me with your latest picks. I've tried neither the high-alc. Russian you speak of nor the Left Hand stuff. Thanks for the tip!
Nvr,
Check out Brooklyn Brewery's Black Chocolate Stout. Very nice as well.My all time favorite beer. I think you can get it in most parts of the country now, but if you live in the NYC area, its been available for several year. Actually, all the Brooklyn stuff is awesome!!
Nvr, for some reason, I'm thinking your in the NYC area? If so, I'm sure you've checked out Gingerman, Blind Tiger & DBAs!! 3 incredible beer bars.
Yes my friend Doubting Bro, you and I will need to make arrangements, sooner rather than later. I've not tried any of the NYC bar beers you've mentioned. I guess that's what we'll do when I get to NYC. I'm not there, but it's like a second home to me.
Cheers to all of you, my brothers!
i had 3 of these...

OMFG! Tecate is my favorite Mexican brew. Even more so now with that visual! Thanks WAC!
I think these young ladies are even lovelier than your "friend". But the importance of compatability is not to be underestimated.
Skeptic1914 - Left Hand rocks. All their stuff is pretty good. I tried the Russian beer you mentioned a few months ago and it was quite good. I was impressed. But then, Baltic porters are similar to Imperial Stouts and I love me some imperial stouts
Brother A - right on!! By the way, the list you posted was quite impressive.
Nvr - Absolutely. I'm not in the area either but do get a chance to get there on occassion. We'll need to figure something out.
I'm going to get myself a Stouds Fat Dog (imperial oatmeal stout). Nectar of the gods.
This stuff should help with the PMD(Post-Memorial Distress) that many of us are suffering from today. Nvr | Troegenator ® Double Bock Alcohol by Volume: 8.2% Hop Bitterness (IBU's) : 25 Color (SRM) : Bronze Availability: Draft and Bottles Year Round Malts: Pilsner, Munich, Chocolate Hops: Hallertau Yeast: Lager TASTING NOTES The Troegenator Double Bock, is a dark, strong lager (8.2% abv). It pours into a glass with a bronze to brown color, fluffy white head and bready malt aroma. The Troegenator leaves a rich, warming feeling and subtle spicy flavors. The style, Double Bock, dates back a century or so ago. During periods of fasting without solid foods, the Monastic brewers relied on the double bock; a stronger, richer beer to fulfill their basic nutritional needs. Known to them as "liquid bread," a double bock has a strong malt aroma and chewy rich body. Traditionally these brewers ended the name of their double bock with the suffix "ator", ex. Celabrator, Illuminator, Subliminator... In the spirit of the tradition we give you the Troegenator to provide warmth and richness through the early spring months. A double bock of epic proportions, beware, the Troegenator is deceiving smooth and delicious. FOOD COMPLEMENTS Since Troegenator is a big beer, it is perfect with big beef—like grilled steaks and stews. It can also serve as a nice compliment to sweet, non-chocolate based desserts |
How's the Troegenator, nvr?
I may have had that some time ago, can't remember.
Most of Troeg's products are good, imo.
At the present moment, it's Miller Time for me:
BA- Tastes ok, definitely less fillling, and best of all easier to burn off.

Sup BA? The troegenator is a delightful paradox. Cool and refreshing, yet gently warming. LOL!
Enjoy the Miller!
Let us know if you encounter any brews of interest in your new assignment in Belarus!
Enjoying one of my faves currently.
BA- Belarus is a great country, so is Ireland!
PS- My ancestors descend from such places.
Frankly, I'm glad to see you switched gears to the Smithwicks Bro A.
Cheers!
