Oooo The Beer Thread and here we are at TGIF. My town is home to the first Brewpub in the country, or was, they closed a few years back over financial problems. Bert Grant was a pioneer in the micor brew industry and he opened a brewpub here in the 80's. What a wonderful place that was. Berts Scottish Ale quickly became my favorite as I was perviously a Guinness fan. I understand the company is still producing as a contract brewer. This thread has got me curious to find out more. I learned to love a nice Black and Tan with Tuesday Night Trivia at the Pub.

Redhook beer in Redmond, Wa was developed by a friend of Berts and they have continued to be one of the best micro brewers in the country. Their IPA is another favorite.

I have learned to enjoy wine and a single malt scotch is my distilled alcohol drink of choice but Ahhhh Beer. My dad introduced me to that smooth bitter flavor when I was a wee lass. Thank You Daddy.

    Hello, tinker.

I don't know if I told this story on this Beer Thread already or not, but one of my fondest memories in life is touring the Redhook Brewery in Redmond with my brother.

    We were 21.

    It was December.

There was a roaring fire in the reception area.

    It was a perfect experience.

    I love their IPA.

If you like Single Malts, please visit our Whisky Thread( http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/130376/1.ashx)!

For wine, please drop by the Wine Thread( http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/137558/1.ashx).

Thanks for helping me to recall a pleasant memory today.

ah yes, me too, many good times I've had at Redhook. They often have good local bands and resonable pub fare. And when you take the brewhouse tour...Yippy=Free Beer Tasting.

....er at least it used to be free, have not been over that way recently. Reminds me, I need a trip over the mountain.

But I remember it like yesterday.

I'm sure it's changed alot since I was there.

OOH that Russian Stout looks yummy, Bigwilly!!! Is it available in Canada??? Probably not....I love stout....got me some Guinness for the weekend. Oh yeah....

I was looking for cherry beer on the net , and it seems our English friends are the lucky ones....they have Sam Smith's organic cherry beer....drool....has anyone ever had this?

Also a Melbourne Cherry ale from the Melbourne Bros........oh I wish I could get my hands on this stuff.....

Delilah, both of the RIS's I posted are in California. I'm not sure if they export any to Canada, but we could work somehting out if you'd like.

As far as the cherry beer, I've heard great things about Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat. If you like the Melbourne Bros Cherry, definitely try the apricot if you get a chance!

    Waffle Haus
Though they're not "German", you'll no doubt enjoy these traditional Liege-style Belgian "sugar" waffles from the famous Waffle Haus of Vermont, made with fresh yeast dough and imported beet and pearl sugar from Belgium. All waffles are freshly baked in front of your eyes using cast-iron waffles irons that caramelize the sugars, then served traditionally in a hand-held fashion to create an intoxicating experience that you'll never forget.

** Caution: these waffles are addictive - $4 each on Saturday
