This evening, we went to visit my wifes' aunt. She lives on the NorthEast side of the city, off of a street that I know from a long time ago.
FLASHBACK: Year 1976...
I was still a good lil' JW, and the locals had purchased some property in a sub-division on the north east side of the city. Back then... there were no '3-day miracles' as they like to call them. They built KH's with volunteer labor (well, as far as everyone knew), and it was mostly done on the weekends.
Yes... I was there, volunteering my time along with a lot of others. (I was ALSO hoping to meet chicks... but hey... I was a nerd, and they steered wide around me.)
Well... the building got completed... somewhere near the end of construction - I was 'asked' to leave by two 'elders' who approached me one day. That's another story. Needless to say, Chiffraedo and Green (Oh. Did I mention names?) were the ones to send me packing.
They occupied this hall for many years, until a few years ago - when they totally demolished it, and in its' place put up one of those 'assembly halls' that they build. At that time, my wife and daughter were involved with it - going there on the weekends to help. The wife even invited me to tag along. "No thanks", I replied dryly, "I don't need to get kicked off twice."
Anyway...
FLASHFORWARD - This evening -
I was driving my current wife and her mom home from her aunt's, and we were on the street... my thoughts going back to those years... and we got to the main intersection, and... there was a banner.
I quickly scanned it, and it said something to the effect...
"Jehovah's ex-Witnesses
www.happyxwittness.com"
My jaw dropped (I probably nearly had an accident, too). My wife saw it too. We were both like... "Cool!"
I told her... "That's a great place to put a banner. Lots of traffic on the weekends when they have their 'assemblies."
I checked out the web site... it appears to be a local group, too.
Interesting.

Jim TX

What a cool idea... maybe we should make some JWD banners for the neighborhood just in time for memorial?
I can see it now: Ex-witnesses unite: www.jehovahs-witness.com Witness the real "truth"
Could be fun...

It _is_ a great idea... it's like protesting - without having to be standing there, getting ignored/shunned, etc.
A banner... well, this one anyway - is a large thing, too! I'm sure that they see it - and read it - and are curious about what the web site is.
Especially the younger ones - who have inquisitive minds - and aren't as afraid of computers and the internet, as their parents.

Sad emo
Brilliant!
I only mentioned the other day in another thread that I'd seen a car with a banner which read 'Don't believe the Truth'
Could have related to a number of things, but to a JW it would probably be one in the eye for them!

That's great news JimTX, was the banner in a safe place and position that the Dubs cant easily remove it?
