Spotted an ex-JW banner...

Thanks, I figured there was a letter off. I noticed though with a brief glance that the focus seems to be on educating non-JWs how to talk to JWs rather than ex-JWs how to talk to JWs. So many ex-JWs have rejected the WTS teachings but not embraced another religion.

"That's great news JimTX, was the banner in a safe place and position that the Dubs cant easily remove it?"

Yeah - it was up about 50 or more feet stretched between a couple of poles - up higher than the traffic signals, for sure. In a position that made you do a double-take... one of those boooooing ones - like in the cartoons.

    As for the incorrect web-site addy - I apoloize. I thought I copy-pasted it, but I guess I didn't.

I looked on their site - and it set off all sorts of alarm bells in my head... it looks like these folks never were JWs - but were college edjukated - and also have ex-mormon info, too.

Nothing wrong with that... I just have a tendency to shy away from getting involved with another possible cult.

I still like the huge banner idea, though. Another idea is to tie it to the back of a small cessna and fly around the city. That'd get folks' attention...

The best was already suggested though... putting one up on/around memorial time - and catch the eyes of all those 'newly interested' ones - and getting them to actually think - prior to getting involved.

I would imagine that they had to get a permit to put up the banner - so if any JWs even thought of taking it down...

Another thought - these were probably the same folks that had set up a small kiosk/booth near the Mormon 'temple' here when it held 'open house' (for a week or so). I remember my cousin - who is a mormon - was disgusted - and made the comment "Someone ought to go over there and take ALL their literature - so they have none to hand out." In my head - I tripped back several years to when he similar comments were said by JWs - about some sort of anti-JW activity. Eerily similar. *shudder*

Oh well. It was different. It's not every day that you see some sort of anti-JW propaganda publicly displayed.

Is there any way you can snap a few pics of this banner with a digital camera and post it here?

Ya know what? I mentioned that to my wife. She has the camera that'd do it... we may take another drive over there to snap a few photos. Just fer the heck of it.

(It _is_ a ways to drive, though... but I think I can swing it... perhaps this Saturday - we can go over to a thrift store near there.) *wide grin*

A while back a poster here mentioned subtle ways of catching JW's interest. One was a sign or banner that just said '607?'.

Only one religious group would do a double take on that.

On this page - www.evidenceministries.blogspot.com/ - of the happyxwitness website Keith Walker has a link to a presentation he made to a Lutheran congregation on various JW topics. Click on the word 'link' in the Tuesday, March 20, 2007 section.

The presentation is about an hour long - very basic and simple. One thing he discussed was the trinity. Having never known anything but the JW version, I still have a hard time getting my mind around the trinity subject and for me his discussion was good.
