I have a spray bottle with bleach and water that I use to spray down my wooden cutting boards after I wash them. None of the boards have stains on them, but I do it mostly to make sure all the germs are gone.

The only thing I've noticed is that the wood seems to dry out faster than I'd like. I'm not sure if it's because of the bleach or not, but I'm still spraying!

Martha Steward says to wipe your cutting board down with lemon and salt.Sprinkle salt on the board and rub it with a lemon cut in half. Then put it out side and let it dry in the sun.

Yep, what Outlaw and GGG said about wiping or lightly spray the surface down with bleach. It can always be rinsed off and doesn't soak into the wood to stay. A light sanding might help, too.

If you worry about the wood drying out, rub it lightly with some olive oil, then go over it with a dry soft cloth.

I think the advice about letting it dry in the sun is a good one.

When I get a stain on my clothes .................yep Im a very messy eater.................if I put it out in the sun it generally bleaches the stain out.
