They really don't want educated people. Because of the reasons expressed on this thread. Education teaches you how to learn and how to think critically. These qualities are incongruent with god's plan for his true religion.

I had doubts and questions for years, but it was educating myself about evolution that really did it for me. Even if you don't accept evolution, you have to agree that the Society's portrayal of it to their members is full of lies, half-truths, and deliberate deceptions.
It was my realization that I'd been lied to about what evolutionary theory really said that was the opening of the floodgates. This wouldn't have happened without I educated myself.
The Society is right. Education (and therefore reality) is their biggest enemy. -

I wondered why the Governing Body feel it necessary to travel first class and live in luxurious conditions. Shouldn't they also do without the comforts of life, as one of the army of Christ Jesus?
Their private executive twin engine airplane has no food service on board and the leg room sucks. Then, they have to carry their own luggage to their Radisson suite.
Whatcha call them bees that do nuttin' all thday but feed?

Think of all the potential converts at University! Young, idealistic, open minds. Why doesn't the Society encourage young JW's to go to University and set up a bible study group or something. There are heaps of Christian denoms that do this.
