I am not sure, but I think it was HotBot, something like that.

Gopher back in 1992 and 1993....When I went on the web in '94, used Webcrawler and AltaVista, but the following year preferred Lycos and Excite, which I used with Altavista until '97 when HotBot became my engine of choice, and then that was replaced when Google appeared in the late '90s. I also liked Magellan for rated websites, but that one didn't last very long.

I think I used Yahoo first, but switched to Google in '99, back when Google was just a search engine not an advertising giant.

I can't quite recall now but it was either Alta Vista or Lycos, that was back in 1995 long before Google came out. Now I think 70% of searches are done by Google, 15% by Yahoo, 10% by MSN. Yahoo bought Alta Vista, and there is an interesting new search engine that specialises in finding images and animations "Pic Search" at www.picsearch.com

I think AOhelL since I went online in 1993, as that was my homepage and I could do pretty much everything from there.
So I guess I only started using Google and Ask last year when I dumped 'the virus'

I googled ugly rat and found that. I don't know what exactly it is, but I named him Hermann.
