For most male genital piercings the piercing is left in during sex.
*Body piercing* jewelry, as opposed to regular *earrings*, has no sharp edges. They're either full circle or with a ball on each end.
I can't sleep with 'regular' earrings in my ear lobes because the backings irritate behind my ears (I sleep mostly on my sides), but I can, and do, leave my body jewelry earrings in 24/7 (that, and I can't put the damned things on without help so I never take them off! ).
For lots of genital piercings, the whole point is to have them in during sex. Consider it an extra 'bonus' for the female parter. Let's just say it rubs good spots if it's put in in the right location. (you do know this is why people get their tongues pierced, right? For oral sex)
Hubby's genital piercings (all done by *himself* - they were all subcutaneous, no PA or anything remotely like that) have all migrated out, but they were nice while they lasted.

For the record - he doesn't tattoo, neither do I. We're both tattooed, but our shop isn't a tattoo shop. Its a piercing shop, that offers heavier modifications.
My boss does travel to California once every 2 months to teach the Fakir Musafar intensives (www.fakir.org ), but I doubt I could coerce him into going to Dallas...

What size jewelry was he using? Usually, small surface piercings through vascular tissue reject fairly easily, unless they're at least 12g. But bonus points to him for being brave enough to do his own work.

Richie, thank you for coming onto this board and occassionally shaking up my safe little world. I need to be reminded that there is a lot more to America than the 'middle' of it...that being said. . .OUCH! In a moment of personal rebellion, I got a tattoo, (early 30's-I'm no prodigy!), once dated a guy with a particularly interesting piercing(which frankly did nothing for ME)and have lots of nieces and nephews who do what they want-so I have seen SOME stuff. Other stuff would never occur to me-had to see the pictures.
I am shocked when people pierce baby ears-do parents allow their children to pierce other things? Or do the big hole in the ear thing/body modifications? Do you need to check ID or do you do anyone? I am now asking as a squeamish mom.
