Welcome FirenBandits, funny thing is Paul spoke of the "the freedom of the Christ" even if one leaves or has left the religion and still wants to belong to Christ, there is freedom. The Bible's simplistic message is that of love God and Neigbor, faith in his sacrifice and just being the best person you can be. But always remember to do good to others.

You certainly would not want to fall into the trap of tarring all posters of this board with the same brush. I've given up wondering what I lost in my childhood, and started counting what I gained. The other day I saw a guy I used to work with in another town giving out scientology leaflets in the street and I thought how much sadder that would have been for someone to join a cult after a seemingly normal upbringing.
Again, my thanks for the many welcomes! I enjoy these smiley faces. What can I say? Simple minds enjoy simple pleasures. This board is a grand place for all of us on our journey out of the bOrg. (I really resonate with the comparison between Dubs and the Borg) I don't think one is ever completely free. At least, not when it comes to being interested in whether or not the bOrg is finally crumbling, how those who have left or were DFed are faring, how one might help those who simply opted for another mental and spiritual cage, etc. I too opted for Despot B after abandoning Despot A. I embraced Hellfire Jehovah after being DFed from Annihilation Jehovah. I was NOT "free." My thoughts were as controlled and constrained as ever. "Bring every thought into captivity to Christ." I had to be as careful of my thoughts, of what I allowed myself to read, ponder, study, as I ever did as a Dub. Cetrainly, I was free to pick and choose from the Christian Smorgasboard, but only from the Christian Smorgasboard. My thoughts had to reflect Biblical Truth as I understood it.
Now I think whatever the hell I want, ask whatever questions I want, study whatever subject from whatever view point I want, and if some deity doesn't like it, well, they know where my posterior is located and how to pucker up.

Your syntax is very nice. Thank you for the words of encouragement. When all is said and done, it will be over which goes without saying, but hell, I said it anyway. Words are the traps used to hold the faithful. How they lick it up. Picking and choosing them is the best there is.
