You have just found the perfect reason that EVERYONE needs healthcare directives!! There are living wills, durable power of attorney for healthcare, etc. A copy should always be given to your doctor, family, and anyone else that needs one.

Here's a site that creates one for your specific state (US only) http://www.legaldocs.com/htmdocs/livin_st.htm

Here's a site that helps explain it all. http://estate.findlaw.com/estate-planning/living-wills/

I'm glad things turned out well for you.

If you have a life insurance policy to provide for your wife in the event of your early and unexpected demise, CANCEL IT. Tell her you're going to let her "lean on Jehovah" if she lets you die because of her cultish beliefs.

As for her meeting-night migraines, that is an interesting coincidence. She may want to look into using the herb FEVERFEW to get some relief from her migraines. She needs to take it for about 2 weeks before it begins to work for her, but I know a few people who are glad they discovered feverfew. Recently in the news it was mentioned that Imitrex and Naproxen work well together for some people. Imitrex is by precription. see http://www.health24.com/news/Headache/1-1248,39941.asp

If you have children, it might be a better idea to modify the policy so that your wife is no longer the beneficiary, but a trustee who will look after your children's needs. I know of people who have declared that their estate is the beneficiary. You can then specify in your will to divide the amount of the policy that goes to your estate to whomever you wish and in whatever amounts you wish.

Zack, I'm glad you are ok. Good you had this discussion with your wife now, instead of it being in the midst of a life threating emergency!!

    Good luck

Glad to hear that you are ok!! Good for you and standing up for yourself. I hope you and your wife can have a frank discussion when things are more appropriate and perhaps she will come around. It was the last belief I let go of. If she was raised in the truth then it was drilled in her head from infancy and it takes a while to overcome that. Good Luck!!

The fallen look on her face told me that my decision was more devastating to her than my possible condition.

This shows the extent of the Society's control over individuals. The fact that "medical directive" cards even exist just shows how the Society is reluctant to really make the whole issue a matter of personal choice. Contrast this to the "agreement" they signed with the Bulgarian officials re the blood issue. I'd be curious as to how much currently active dubs know about what went down in Bulgaria anyway. Have you ever discussed this with your wife?

I am sorry to hear that you had to go through this, but glad you're okay. It is a depressing situation for you both, I'm sure. Best wishes and congratulations on standing up for yourself. You are worth it. Best wishes.

Amazing! You took blood and didn't die!

But according to the learned comments given during studies, blood is like poison, no? Well that's what I heard.

Blood saves lives. And I'm glad you're alive, zack, thanks to blood.
