Did you ever get tired of hearing the WT's reason for why suffering exists?

Right now, the WT is publishing their "Very Soon" series of the Awake!

Soon - An End To Suffering

The articles are the typical "Why does God permit suffering", followed by the issue of universal soverignty, the fall of Adam and Eve and a concluding "very soon now God's kingdom will bring an end to worldly governments."

When you think of Asaph contemplating the welfare of the wicked - that was 3,500 years ago

When you think of Habakkuk and his complaint "why so long Jehovah" - that was 600 years before the birth of Christ.

When you read Jesus' words "when you see all these things, know he is at the doors"

When you hear dubs in service use the 3,500 year old Psalm: "And just a little while longer and the wicked one will be no more."

To be honest, with everything that's going on in the world, the excuse given for why does God permit suffering begins to sound lame. After all these years, the Society is still trying to Adam and Eve the issue when the problems of today are much more complex.

I was raised by Witness parents who thought there were weeds in the garden because a naked woman saw a talking snake and ate an apple before an animal herder built a wooden boat and Joe Rutherford fulfilled Bible prophecy when he spoke at 7 conventions in 7 cities in the United States.

Sooooo very lame truthseeker! It used to hurt my brain to hear these super-simplistic explanations. Glad to be free to think. It feels so good!

Well I know why they use this line of reasoning...because they know that being a JW IS SUFFERING and they have to justify it by saying that is what GAWD wants you to do Sistahhhhhhh GAAAAWD wants you to be depressed and feel imprisoned and hopeless and trapped....it's not us it's Gawwwwwwd...so get over it and get out there and recruit and quitcherbitchin. And your reward will be that someday you will be in "Paradise" with us and be in servitude to us there TOO.

If God is good and all powerful, why does he allow his creatures to suffer pain? And what of the suffering of animals, who neither deserve pain nor can be improved by it? The Watchtower cannot explain this, they use "The Fall Of Man" as an answer to everything. This is questionable, they cannot connect the dots.

The excuse for god permitting suffrering is lame. It is also insulting to those who have had to endure terrible things in life.

I remember when I first start reading books outside of the JW "approved" status.

I grabbed a book at the local library that discussed suffering in the world and the argument arose about whether

we lived in the "Best of all possible worlds". Why would a benevolent creator put his children in less than the very best of all possible worlds? Wouldn't a world in which mankind lacked nothing (truly) be better than a world where they could fall?

This led to the contemplation of Freewill.

In what way, in a PERFECT world, does freewill add anything but a recipe for disaster?

Imagine building a new car which has the capacity to go out of control randomly built into the onboard computer. What advantage would this confer?

Why build, create or design any parameter which would include chaos built-in??

We are always taught how wonderful a blessing freewill is and how God did not want robots worshiping him. But, if you take three steps back and really look at this issue it isn't at all how it is presented to us.

Here is the rather amazing thought that popped into my head after thinking about his carefully. (Okay, amazing to me, anyway.)

Inheriting sin from Adam and Eve programs in a determined failure. We are helpless over that programming (according to biblical explanation.) In other words, NO FREE WILL to worship comes naturally to us. Yet, at the same time humans (some of them; not all) are exposed to a messege of salvation which is supposed to MAKE SENSE to a mind ravaged by predetermined fallen consciousness and penetrate that mindset to the point we can bootstrap ourselves into Faith, Belief and the embrace of salvation.

How can a fallen mind, a fallen consciousness and a sinful will simultaneously recognise "Truth" and create faith out of that Sin??

It becomes obvious that SUFFERING in humanity was a PREdetermined state according to the kind of mind, nature and circumstance mankind found itself in from the getgo.

Perfect is as perfect does. No perfect mind can perform an imperfect act by will. Yet, we are to believe this is how perfect Adam and perfect Eve's perfect minds operated!

How can a Perfect Mind be free from its own perfection?

I completely agree. It often bothers me that "innocent" children, and animals have to suffer because of mans greed and uncaring attitude. If god existed then why has he not done anything. If we go to a better place, that would still be a selfish god because he HAD/HAS the power to change things but he waited until you died, whereas true living perhaps may have been with the living. Very disturbing...

I really wonder if we are the offspring of a dieing race who landed here tens of thousands of years ago or even millions of years ago, and lost their technology and expertise. Just like when socities fall and rise. All very strange, though, as I do believe it takes an intelligent life to have constructed the harmony and choas of the universe, while keeping things in order. So where is he/she/it/they?
