Did you ever get tired of hearing the WT's reason for why suffering exists?

  I believe that my all time favorite reason for God continuing to allow the suffering on earth today, is the one that says the angels need proof that man cannot rule himself. One would think that by now, any half-witted angel could see that man will always hurt each other. Man will always be greedy and try for domination of others who do not think like he does. I could not be even 1/10th of 1% as intelligent as an "angel", but it seems pretty obvious to me that man will always be in conflict in some form on this earth. By Dub reasoning, that makes angels pretty stupid if they haven't figured it out yet.

  That's just my humble thinking on the matter.

  Absolutely! And their explanation is like a story given to 4 year old (no offense to 4 year olds) to explain why their pet Scruffy died.

  Every decade/century has had unbelievable suffering. Why wouldn't a loving God cut the cord and bring on his fanciful paradise at 1 billion earthly inhabitants? 2 billion?? 3 billion???

  Don't get me wrong, I love being able to live. But their story does not hold water on the "suffereing" aspect.

  It isn't too much unlike the guy who goes into terrible debt driving a Jaguar he cannot afford in order to impress the girls at the drive-thru window.

  What could be more insecure male than throwing everything up in the air just to prove a point that massages the ego?

  There is an old saying that makes alot of sense to me:

  To those who understand; no explanation is necessary. To those who don't understand; no explanation is possible.

  Couldn't this have been explained to God; that convincing angels (or humans) of how superior you are isn't going to work no matter how you try?

  I could not be even 1/10th of 1% as intelligent as an "angel",

  They are just like us humans, remember the ones that saw those pretty woman and became flesh so they could have one before the flood? God had to stop that or all his angels would be here now. No one can resist a woman.

  I was raised by Witness parents who thought there were weeds in the garden because a naked woman saw a talking snake and ate an apple before an animal herder built a wooden boat and Joe Rutherford fulfilled Bible prophecy when he spoke at 7 conventions in 7 cities in the United States.

  "The excuse for god permitting suffering is lame. It is also insulting to those who have had to endure terrible things in life." I gave out the WT reason to others for many years. I ignored the gaping holes in the explanation - suffering within all creation, the total absence of Godly love. That Jesus HAD to come to pay a price for all humankind to be reconciled to God - if you really think about it it is totally absurd. Even if you accept that part it means Jesus paid the price TWO THOUSAND YEARS ago! So, if the price has been paid, where is God? Sitting in the TOILET, like all the other Gods? Any God who has to go through some self-imposed court case to justify his authority is NOT love. Who knows? - maybe Jesus said the very same thing to God, and that's why he never made it back!

  One MAIN reason why I stopped. That is SOOOOOOOOOOO stupid.

  Religion is just a great con game to scam money out of people that are a little bit more naive than the con men running the game.

  Trying to make sense out of our exhistence, God and suffering. The best thing I can come up with to myself is that we are God. God is conciousness. We are all little parts of god, conciousness and we leave the spirit realm and come down here to the pleasure planet, earth to have a human experience. Because this is the only game in town. There is not that much going on in the spirit realm. We come here as humans, bugs, animals, plants what not to have physical experiences. It's kind of like going to an amusement park.

  It might be kind of lame, but thats the best and most comforting that I can come up with for myself.

  When I die. I will go back to the spirit realm of peace and perfection and stay there until I get bored enough to come to the pleasure planet for another 70 years or less.

  Why is there suffering?

  I was raised Catholic, and I don't remember this issue ever being addressed directly, either by my parents or by a priest in giving a sermon or by any of my Sunday School teachers.

  Along came JW's with their literalist theology of treacherous serpents and dented breadpans, this is why there is suffering! To a person aching for answers to life's difficult questions, and naive enough to believe that these simplistic answers were deep and profound, and naive enough to buy into the Watchtower's explanation for why these deep, profound answers were mysteriously absent from the teachings of Catholicism and her bastard child Protestantism - because they are led by Satan! - it was all such perfect timing for me. :(

  I guess the shame is on me for being so credulous.
