"The Streets Is Hard, they don't understand that innit"

So I was (attempting) to work on my car the other day when a few 17,18 or 19 year old white kids walked past. Now we have come to call this group of kids 'the gangster boys', 'street rats' and of course, 'Chav brigade'.

I don't know what it is like in other places in the world, but here in the UK, Gangster boys are breeding at alarming rates. These are your once well spoken kids of middle class families, who have discovered 'artists' such as 50 Cent etc and try their damned hardest to emulate them. I find it all very embarrassing. As they passed, I heard them mutter something about their appearance in court, and one piped up "But the streets is hard, you don't understand that innit".

I had to chuckle. I looked around and thought 'streets....is....hard...mmm'. Let me make it clear I dont live in no ghetto. It's a predominantly white neighbourhood which is pretty safe and well looked after. It's no Harlem, or someplace in Iraq for God's sake. I think these kids are really falling for this whole 'thug life' commercialism. I know where the streets are hard, for instance, gangland USA or the City of God Rio, but in a relatively pleasant neighbourhood like mine?

The thing is, I have seen these kids grow from innocent little bleeders whose crimes included hitting the ball too hard so it came over your fence, and all of a sudden, the whole MTV hip-hop lets love black people because they are so cool regime took over. It's ever so sad. I am not saying that in any way against blacks at all, it is not their fault that gullible well spoken white youth suddenly decide that they are in this 'struggle' as well. I happen to like a lot of hip hop myself; but I think some of these kids just take it a little too far!

That's my rant for today, thanks for reading

Yeah I'd much rather see people who really have had a hard life to pick themselves up and make something successful out of their lives.

It is silly i agree, considering these kids will not likely see what real street life is like for sometime to come if ever.

I've lived in homeless accomodation with mum and stuff, we've had it rough but next to some we've been through NOTHING.

I think you're blaming the wrong race. There has always been gangs in America and England. You're just choosing the blacks because of the popular hip hop videos. My god! I'm starting to wonder if people, actually, think that there'd be a paradise on earth without blacks. I know some love that thought, but you'd be in for a rude awakening.

I seen a sign or statement about the KKK calling themselves "The original boys in the hood".

Gangs didn't start with black youth. It started way before hip hop!

Youngsters today are bored and frustrated so they turn to things like sex, alcohol and drugs, fortunately for most it's soft drugs, in order to get some excitement out of life. It's amazing how everything has to be so easy and uncomplicated just take a pill and you'll find happiness.

    lol tijkmo!

I think you missed my point MsMcDucket, it wasn't aimed at gangs, hip hop, or blacks... but corny well-to-do white kids who are swayed by hip hop videos etc.

Paradise without blacks? Well, I don't know anybody who thinks like that.

I suppose we could think like this guy:

We heard these sentiments many times before used by various races. It's the ones that have the power who, actually, try the genocide thing. I'm sure that you can think of some country that has tried this???

Zimbabwe, South Africa, Serbia, Germany, Rwanda, it's a horrible state of affairs. Race is just something politicians use to divide us from being a united people.
