I wouldn't mind the option, but I can see why some might mind. If you feel that someone's comments are from left field or don't make sense, just ask in a polite way what they mean.
I actually didn't think any "pro" Witnesses would be on the board. Shows what I know. But then, I'm still fairly new here.

Hey Isaac - yes there are all types on here, and people at very different stages. Some choose to go for the jugular if there's an apologist about and I can understand that, but those who still believe it's the Truth

We're just normal people, but better for the experience of leaving the cult. I loathe the WTS ä but it wouldn’t stop me chatting to one of its victims, ie a Witness ä
Yup, nothing like a nice little sign to hang on others. That way you can immediately revert to a viewpoint appropriate to said sign. No more need to relate to an actual person, no opportunity to meet someone free of preconceived ideas that keep the other one in a nice convenient box, a box which defines how you think about another person. We all do this anyway, but not in such an overt way. Mostly, people relate to the idea they have formulated of another person, not the essence of that person. We sleepwalk through life, unaware of our own true essence as well as that of others, and create ideas of self and others which bounce off each other. Just invisible signs bumping into one another. Maybe this is what sin really is.
looks like you are just going to have to start remembering who you are talking to.
i can't really think of a symbol for me. "atheist" is only one label i fall under.
if you run into me on a political thread, you would need another symbol for anarchist.
and then when people went from being xian to being muslim, they would have to get their symbol changed. it would get messy.
i dunno, next idea.

This is probably obvious, but in case your having a newbie "DOH!!" moment like I have many times, in addition to reading someone's profile, click on their Post History and Topic History. It only takes a couple minutes and gives you way more insight than a label.

I found out IT IS NOT THE TRUTH when I put down the Watchtowers, the books, the brochures and all the other publications and started reading the Bible Only.
