What is the solution?

Most of us seem to be concerned about world problems, from Iraq, oil, Darfur, Katrina victims, mental illness, global warming, starvation, crooked politicians, child abuse, healthcare, racism, prejudice etc etc etc.

We know there are just really people out there that don't care or pay attention to the planet or each other. Daily things get worse. If they are getting better the media fills us with negative negative negative all day long.

I think some here believe things will always be the way they are, its human nature. Some think there will be something huge happen that we all will have to make changes, while others seem to think we can do this through government. and Maybe God will step in.

We are scarred and working to heal our lives. On a grander scale, the planet, humankind, creation is scarred and well, it needs to heal as well.

It's easy to pick apart what others are doing, but what is your suggestion for a solution? Do we really know the root of the problem and how to solve it? What is the future for our children and grandchildren.....great grandchildren and so on?

It's not all about being bitter, upset or lied to by the WT, we are just a small part of the planet.

    What about everything else?

...is the only thing that will ever truly make any difference, I truly believe, Purps. We've been sold a bill of goods thru the WTB&TS, yes, but as wrong as they are and have been on certain undeniable issues, I think they got a huge part of the story correct.

God is the only one who could ever fix the things that cause turmoil and division amongst us all. Good, bad and the uguly. I believe while we were told to wait on Jehovah, we were given a blank check by those in OZ, for us to always have a reason for hope in the eventual hereafter. God will fix all these things, but not within the timeline that we've been given by the Society.

All we can do in the meantime is love Jehovah with our whole heart and soul, and our neighbors as ourselves. Time is not to be thrust forward or tinkered with regarding all that God will eventually do to make things aright. We are so educated and far beyond ourselves with all of our technology and modern science, but we are light years in the dark as it pertains to spiritual things, and the absolute understandings of God.

    Thanks Prophecor...

Haven't we been created or evolved with the brain power we have, are we not accountable for the havoc we created on the planet? Are we not just looking for Jah to rescue us from ourselves? What if there is no God to do this for us?

I truely respect your reply and quite possibly that is the only way, the bible tells us this. But what if, what if we had no one to rescue us, would we not be more careful about our decisions? would we not use our talents to solve this on our own?

    Is that possible?

Were it ever allowed to be only within our power, our will, our determination, we, although very gifted as people, many of us, blessed with insight and intellect beyond comparisson with other cultures from history, we would never cease to being human. To be human, in these shells is, and always has been an excerise in futility, even for those, and especially those who have served God. We as humans on this side of heaven, will never aspire spiritually any further than our hearts can hold knowledge. Knowledge regarding the sacredness of life, the gifts that God has given us in men and women, the understanding that we are all here with a purpose. The thing is we must find out what that purpose is. As long as we are in denial about the existence of a Supreme Being who, due to our limited understanding, can appear to us as aloof, distant and doesn't really care about his creation, we will never aspire any further than many who were our ancestors. Man can not be trusted to solve or permanently fix any of the problems that exist on this planet. We've made grand progress. We're many, a work in progress. We will always need the direction of God in our lives, however. Look how long man has been working out the process. We are, and will continue to be, Head Smart but Heart Foolish.

There has never been a civilization that didn't fall. There is something intrinsic about it and our relationship to the nature. Which is completely inverse in it's 'nature' to what it should be. On the other hand when you look around you you will notice that real nature exists quite happily without us. And it has for millions of years. We can do either of the two things here, i.e. desperately try to invent something that has never been before and make our civilization and way of living survive. OR we can go back and try get in tune with nature. No need to say which one is suicidal mission and which one has a real promise there.

Leo Tolstoy summarized it quite eloquently when he said

One of the first conditions of happiness is that the link between Man and Nature shall not be broken.

That doesn't mean going back to the caves either, there is a lot we can learn from nature. In engineering there is entirely new movement of bio-inspiration or as some say bio-mimicry that attempts to copy designs of nature and make our own technologies less polluting.

An excellent book on that subject if you are interested is "The Gecko's Foot" by Peter Forbes

To wet your appetite a bit I'll just quote this one paragraph from the book.

While writing this book, I have found myself watching insects in the garden far more closely, In fact, I wonder if I ever really noticed them before, other than on the increasingly rare occasions that a butterfly flew in. A sudden flurry in the corner of my eye and a garden spider is binding an already unrecognizable insect. Hoverflies punctuate the air around the Coreopsis. Two cabbage whites lurch across the garden in a mating dance. I realize that one of the reasons I used to be impervious to this micro-choreography is that it all seemed so impenetrable. How on earth did they do it? But increasingly, we know, or if not, we know how we are going to know in a few year's time. Welcome to an Aladdin's cave of bio-inspired materials and devices. (p, 28)

These as well as some other technologies that are hidden from public view could solve our pollution and energy crisis definitively and by that take away the major cause of wars in our modern age.

In my humble opinion just being kind to one another accomplishes a lot. a smile, a door held open , a space in line , a random act of kindness, means a lot. A smile and letting people who are stressed deal with it and don't exacerbate it with a smart ass remark or a look of contempt.

I say assemble the greatest minds on the planet to run all economic and political affairs. I also say that there is no room for evil in a global world. It must be eliminated and dealt with harshly and swiftly. A lot of our collective intelligence and money is being diverted by wars. This must stop. It must be redirected to the benefit of mankind into studying genetics and technology to further improve our world. We have obviously been given the intelligence to solve our own problems but must first overcome the evil. Education should be mandatory and available to all. If we take on the attitude that God will look after everything when we have the ability in our own hands we are only dreaming. This is what the witnesses do. I'm hoping that at some point if we don't destroy ourselves completly that logic and good will surpass and triumph over evil. The mind must be further studied in this regard for those that are just born as what one might call a bad seed. Further, anything from a religion that condones any unfair or evil practice must be banned without banning the religion. Once the basic necessities are overcome and phychological needs are met in a healthy way we are on the road to Utopia.

If we don't suceed regardless, then it wasn't ever meant to be. Our self destruct button was just too hard wired into the species. No one ever said there has to be a happy ending, or a God or a Utopia. The world has always been a cruel place.

The news sells fear and sensationalism , it never seems to amaze me that we have gotten this far with all the paranioa and sick people in the world with little tolerance and small minds . Today is a very difficult time because we do face a very serious threat in over population as well as global warming and polution . Nuclear proliferation is also very threatening but we can't let fear ruin the day . I believe that God can fix anything that people screw up and death is something that everybody experiences in this world and don't ponder on it too much so the terrorists don't spook me as much as the Bush administration would want it too . I even listen to alex jones on info wars and there is alot more to fear from our own government but still I realize that being afraid isn't the answer .

One of the very few things I agree with WTS philosophy on is this- personal assistance to individuals
    one-at-a-time, can make a difference.

Live your life right. Explain your view to those that listen. Aid a hungry person or help fix a roof for a
tornado victim. Do something- it's contageous. Will good conquer evil in our lifetime, maybe not, but
keep spreading good anyway. Allow it to flourish.

Disaster is hard to rid the world of. I say we will always have it. I hope that one day in the future (perhaps
generations after I am dead, but maybe sooner) a disaster will always be met with assistance. I have the
same hope for one man or family at a time. When they are going through personal disaster, I hope that
    someone is able to help.

Even if you aren't able to go beyond the call to help people, live good and be good and do no harm. That
    helps, too.

hambeak, this is great for us that have lifes necessities........but what about those that are starving, they dont even have a door to open. We can read and have tools to better ourselves, to push ourselves.......what about those that cannot read. they cannot hardly think about helping another. I think about all we have here compared to other places, what we are exposed to. How much we concentrate on our own happiness, how we want things better for ourselves, its nearly required of us these days..........is it really possible to think of others?

How does a whole planet rectify itself?
