Mini, This is an ongoing "SYNDROME". The last days has come and gone in the first century. Jesus was talking about the last days for Jerusalem and the end of that ( Jewish ) system of things. Remember, Jesus talked about more than one system of things. He spoke of systems of things to come, no date given for these other systems of things.

However I am a skeptic when it comes to hearsay words of Jesus. Misqouting Jesus is the thing that belief systems are popular for, each has it's own take and interpretation based on their own belief system as to what Jesus said and what time frame it applies to.

Every generation has had its last days syndrome. Just taking a look at the Watchtower Society's Last Days syndrome that has lasted for over 100 years ( that we have personally been involved in ) is an example of this.

Black Death- Plague kills 1/3 of Europe- last days??

Rome invades Jerusalem and kills most of the inhabitants- last days??

American Civil war- highest casualty count of any war in American history- last days?

Today- 30 killed in a school- tragic, but pales in comparison with the suffering of the past.

Last days of what? Every civilization so far had ultimately failed nothing new there. Out of every failure emerged a new understanding. Our way of living may well be coming to an end but that doesn't mean mankind will not survive. Of course if we had more reasoning power we could attempt to have softer landing and transform our society into something better because we certainly have enough of scientific knowledge to do that. Perhaps it is that time when we really need to look deep within ourselves and see what really matters to us and also ponder how we fit in a bigger picture of things rather than live only for our own enjoyment. Here is one of my favorite websites that ponders some of those questions http://beyond.asu.edu/home.html

If they want to be nervous nellies and always see the negative, then they will have to suffer. If they want to use their head they can look at history and see man has always been suffering and acting barbarically towards one another.

If they arent personally suffering they should enjoy their life. If they are personally suffering, that sucks.

If you have your health and you have some free time dont waste it waking your neighbors up on Saturday mornings.

We may be in the last days of men. But the dubs missed their chance to call it in 75. If we are in the last days you better eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we may die.

I sometimes think that jws actually relish events like the recent shootings,
just so that they can put their own spin on it regarding further "proof" that
we are living in the last days. It seems to cheer them up when other people
    suffer.

I'd like to think we are living in the last days of the watchtower society, seeing
that fall would be an event worth seeing in my view.
