TERRY YOU ARE MY HERO FOR THIS THREAD

    Millerite_1843_chart.jpg William Miller 1843 chart Jehovah's Witnesses Millerite/Adventist sect spin-off
American Civil war army captain William Miller is ground zero for Jehovah's Witnesses.

There is nothing that made me gasp in horror of all WT/JW falsehoods more then this finding that it all came from the Millerite movement.
Yes,the "great disappointment"of Oct 22 1844 has never died out... it lives on in the Seventh day Adventist (who admit it) and the Jehovah's Witnesses who deny it.

Must see video clip: www. dannyhaszard.com/cultv ideos.htm please go to this link and scroll down for the History Channel clip
The Millerites: Armageddon (History Channel) 4 min clip
This is the highly credible HISTORY CHANNEL (
Roger Mudd ) not the "apostates" exposing Jehovah's Witnesses as a spin-off of the William Miller movement of 1844

Ergo,no 1914 then there can be no 1918 "inspection" and appointment of the Watchtower leaders as 'God's organization'.

The central CORE doctrine of the Watchtower, yes the reason the Watchtower came into existence was to declare Jesus second coming in 1914.When the prophecy (derived from William Miller of 1842) failed they said that he came "invisibly".

Ergo,no 1914 then there can be no 1918 inspection and sealing of the 'anointed' so the entire Watchtower Bible and Tract Society doctrinal superstructure comes crashing down like a house of cards http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/12/130861/1.ashx valuable companion thread

Terry, thanks for the effort to put this down in writing. The way you write it makes me think it would make a good movie.

Shure Miller had 15 proofs that Christ would come in 1843-4 but it was somehow beleived that 15 weak positions somehow = 1 strong position. There is a book going around around Adventist circles called 'The end of Historisism' by Kai Arisole an Adventist leader in finland. It is causing Adventists to rethink these old 19th century positions on exergesis.

As I recall, Russell did make acknowledgment to the contribution that Miller made to the Bible Student movement. And even though he thought that Miller's calculations were premature, he considered Miller as a pioneer in prophetic intrepretation.

I have always admired Miller for making an apology to his followers before he died. If only Russell and others in the adventist movement could have been as forthright and honest, we might have a different spirit in those groups. Instead, they became entrenched in their own theology even when it was obvious that something was wrong.

Let's compare two positions: Miller versus the Scriptures: God declared that no man would know the time; Miller stated that he did know the time. God said that the times and seasons were within his own power; the Millerites declared that they had the prophectic key given to them. Jesus stated, "No man knows the day or the hour," but the millerites set the exact day ( Ocotber 22, 1844 ). And history bears a bitter record of their terrible disappointment.

Your knowledge of views internal to Christianity appear as concise as those of Russell towards Freemasonry. Its amazing how often you can hit a nail while thumping in the dark

Aside from my own penchant for religious accuracy, an interesting presentation.

This is so cryptically written I don't know whether to smile or go off and cry!

Great thread for lurkers, since few JWs have done little research into the history of their faith.

Hay, Hitler started with 12 guys in a beer hall in Munich! It just takes one man with a bull shit idea.
