Nothing or almost nothing in terms of cash but I gave them a lot of time as a pioneer for a year and time is money. When I realised it was all about serving a human org, and a very ungrateful one at that, and not God I dumped everything and left.

direct financial help ? They got the crumps off my table- but all the time spent as an unpaid MS and Elder was 5 years out of my life.

NOT to many bucks as they always said, Jehovah took care of things and provided for them...so I thought they didn't need much moola. Because the money they needed came from the air of Jehovah.

OH! Yes! Time cooking special meals for parties and get togethers and gas and wear and tear on my car.

In free labor, thousands upon thousands upon thousands of dollars. And that's just for construction services.

I never gave much either. In face I think my seven years as a JW I gave less that $50.

The reason I felt like not giving was because

    1. They didn't teach a proper view of giving anyway. (All that talk about 'no collections')
    2. They converted me at a young age, and I had no family of my own 'in the truth'. I allways felt like it was enough that I just go to their meetings.
    3. I would just forget.

    Less than $500.

I was in the cult for almost 15 years.

    Approximately $33.33 a year.

That was $35.00 a year too much to give the apostates so they could live in luxury in Brooklyn.

I didn't donate money but my mother did. Now that she's dead the Lakeview congregation in Oshawa Ontario has decided not to issue a receipt for her 2006 donations, in spite of being reminded to do so. I still am required to file a final tax return for her by the end of this month. Legally they were required to send out the tax receipts by the end of February. She didn't donate much, so getting copies of the cheques from the bank would cost more than any tax benefit that might be realized, and I'm sure the congregation knows this. That won't prevent me from speaking to my contacts in the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency.

Hear that Linc??? Can you spell A-U-D-I-T???

Not much in the way of money. I gave way more time and free labor than they deserved.
