    Thanks Blondie!

I sometimes wonder if 'Fear' is the word that the WTBTS uses as much as if not MORE than 'Jehovah'. What do you think?

And how many times does 'Fear' and 'Jehovah' appear together in their publications? Not just a few times I should imagine.

Jgnat - I search all over this site and the WT is not listed anywhere - even among the 62 religious charities that are.
they must fall into one of these catagories - I'd love to know which one and why!
you can also ask specifically why they don't evaluate your favorite charity.
    or request that they try.

    Which charities do you evaluate?
Because we aim to help givers and to celebrate charities nationwide, we use five simple guidelines for choosing which charities to evaluate. Before evaluating a charity, we consider its:

Tax Status: We only evaluate organizations granted tax-exempt status under section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code and file a Form 990. 501(c) (3) organizations are considered public charities and all donations to them are tax-exempt.

    * We don't evaluate 501(c) (4) organizations.
501(c) (4) organizations, like the Disabled American Veterans or the National Rifle Association of America, are allowed to spend a substantial portion of their revenue on lobbying our government and not every donation to them is tax-deductible.
    * We don't evaluate charities that are exempt from filing the Form 990.
Many religious organizations, like the Salvation Army, are exempt under Internal Revenue Code from filing the Form 990. As a result, we lack sufficient data to evaluate their financial health.
    * We don't evaluate private foundations.
Private foundations, like the Avon Foundation, receive the majority of their money from only one individual, family or corporation. This differs from the public charities that Charity Navigator evaluates. Public charities have a broad-base of support from the general public as well as variety of other funding sources. The IRS requires that private foundations file a Form 990-PF which differs from the document public charities file. This makes it impossible for us to compare the financial performance of private foundations to public charities.

Hi Blondie. I am on the same page with you as far as the favorable treatment David was shown in the Bible.

I was looking for how JW's are supposed to "enjoy life" nowadays while trembling at Jehovah, and here it is in paragraph 12:

    12) "The eyes of Jehovah are toward the righteous ones, and his ears are toward their cry for help." (Psalm 34:15) The record of God's dealings with David proves that those words are true. Today, we experience deep joy and inner peace because we know that Jehovah is watching over us.

We keep hearing how righteous David was, and supposedly he was rewarded for righteousness. It seems that he was an impulsive, violent and lusty man. He worked the system and used warfare and politics to get to the top of the heap in Judah. It wasn't just because some deity looked down on him and said - "now there's an exemplary man'.

Same is true in the congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses today. Not that all elders are impulsive, violent and lusty. But some are, and how did they get appointed elders? They worked the system and use spiritual warfare and politics to claw their way to the top in the congregation. At least a lot of the time, they do.

Yes - David was a FINE type for JW elders today.

How can you enjoy life if you live in fear of any kind?

    Is that even possible?

    G'day Blondie,

    A thorough preparattion as always!

I haven't seen (or missed) a WT in many months, so it's good to be alerted to the plethora of misapplications that emanate from Crooklyn.

    This caught my eye:

Q18) In what sense are the "great crowd" already redeemed, and what will they experience in the future?

    18) David's psalm concludes with these reassuring words: "Jehovah is redeeming the soul of his servants; and none of those taking refuge in him will be held guilty." (Psalm 34:22) Near the end of his 40-year reign, King David said: "[God] redeemed my soul out of all distress." (1 Kings 1:29) Like David, fearers of Jehovah will soon be able to look back and rejoice at being redeemed from any guilt because of sin and rescued from all their trials. Already, most anointed Christians have received their heavenly reward. "A great crowd" from all nations are now joining the remaining ones of Jesus' brothers in serving God and as a result enjoy a clean standing before Jehovah. This is because they exercise faith in the redeeming power of Jesus' shed blood. During the coming Thousand Year Reign of Christ, the full benefits of the ransom sacrifice will be applied to them, raising them to human perfection. -Revelation 7:9, 14, 17; 21:3-5.

The usual obfuscation by the Writing Department when faced with difficult (embarrassing?) questions!

What they mean is.....NO! The great crowd don't gain salvation until the millenium, according to them, yet that isn't what the Bible says. A read of the book of Romans lays that furphy to rest.

David was not too scared to question His decision at the end of killing thousands of his people for his personal sin and mistake.

Yet...he was not given an answer or explanation either why his punishment was dealt out that way instead of directed at him personally leaving innocent people out of it.

Wonder if he will ever get his explanation?

    Any guesses?
