Update Regarding How The May 1 QFR Is "Playing" In The Congregations

The governing body have trashed Rutherford's teaching that 1935 was the end of the gathering of the 144,000 and after that only "other sheep" and replacements for the 144,000 would be "gathered". So the GB say now the cutoff never occurred and 144,000 are still being gathered.

If that's so, then how do they explain the ingathering of the "great crowd" which according to their long-established teaching occurs after the gathering of the 144,000?

BTW nice points as always, Pope.

Hardly anyone has mentioned it here other than the "trainspotter" type JWs who love this sort of thing anyway. Then again , hardly anyone ever reads the magazines - only if it was in a study article would it ever be noticed. The WTS must be kicking themselves for not hiding the 1995 "generation change" in a QFR.

Incidentally , it isn't correct that the WTS has worded the 1935 "completed gathering" in fairly general , vague terms. Especially in the late 60's / early 70's before the "replacement" theory was developed by Fred Franz , the wording was very specific.

    Is

God still selecting individuals to be associated with his Soni n the heavenly kingdom?Or is it the hope of earthly life that all who dedicate themselves to Jehovah have in this day?

Does this mean that, since about 1935, those already resurrected to heaven together with the spirit-begotten remnant yet on earth have made full the number of 144,000? Yes, that is the conclusion to which the evidence points. The general call for such ones has ceased to go out.

Pre-1935, the situation was that most witnesses were claiming to be of the 144,000. Those who became witnesses after that date mostly did not claim to be anointed because the positions were supposed to be filled and they could only get in as replacements. What I wonder is: now that 1935 does not have any meaning, how are they going to explain this? Why the sudden difference in numbers of anointed before and after this date?

It must be so confusing now when they study the revelation book. Their doctrine reminds me more and more of Orwell's 1984 - entire pages need to be pulled out; someone needs to go through it with a black pen to get rid of the old light. The belief system - structure of ideas is losing coherance, and it must be increasingly difficult for a witness to remember what it is that they believe anymore.

The sincere ones may catch it, but they won't necessarily see it as proof of the lie; they'll just be depressed because they will understand that the society is saying they may not live to see the pair-o-dice.

My parents and in laws fall into this category. They are on depression drugs as are many other JW's.

    pair-o-dice LOL

    To true!!

This was me to a tee.

I always thought it was me, that I just couldn't get it. I finally figured it out that it wasn't me it was them. Liars!

It sounds like just another of their many excuses to explain why armageddon han't come yet. They are once again postponing it in the minds of jws, who "know" that the 144,000 have to be gathered before the end comes. What deceivers they are! And the sad fact is, a lot of jws will hardly notice the change, or at least realise the significance of it.

So then this will open up new opportunities for the young and keen to now get on the Governing Body, won't it?

And hiding this new info in a QFR is sneaky, in a couple of years time when some dildo comes forward and questions the new teaching the elders can cunningly ,and arrogantly say to the poor rubber head "well it was in the Watchtower ,did YOU miss it brother?"

The ongoing failure of that 8500 to ever drop [as it should ] was the first thing that I began to investigate. I KNEW it could not be possible for people in their 90's to keep living without any drop [the mortality rate at those ages is over 10% per annum].

I was new to the internet [circa 2002] then, and did an extensive calculation using Berkley's mortality tables. I never did look at a single 'apostate' site in that process, but knew that serious errors had occured. That gave us the courage to 'look around' the internet a little bit, still avoiding most of the apostate sites. We came across Ray's books. I was terrified to order them. [Can you believe that? A 48 year old man, afraid to order a book and read it? Wow was I dubbed!]. Wifey ordered them without my knowledge. Two weeks after they got here - we were out, never to return to the KH again.

Now the organization is trying to stop those who looked into such things from bleeding out. They have no idea about the 144,000, or anything else scriptural, especially prophecy. Trusting them to deliver the goods would be as foolish as asking the local butcher to do heart surgery. Tools in the hands of idiots are dangerous things.

Talked about it with a couple of folks, along the lines of "Hey, what did you think the May 1 QFR?"

Both had read it, both somehow completely & utterly missed the point about the change of significance of the year 1935. Apparently reading comprehension is not among their strong suits!

Later, upon explaining what the article said, and the potential implications (e.g., the number of partakers could well double, triple, or more in upcoming years), they said "oh, yeah, I can see that..."

Good grief! It's like there's a 3-dot "connct the dots" picture, and you have to hold their hand & guide the pencil for them...
